Alright, here we go. I know I’m gonna take A LOOOT of heat for trading the golden boy, but let me get to my explanations first.
Assuming the cap stays the same, and no CBO, here’s my thought(s) behind these moves/signings.

Matthews Trade: TO is gonna be in a little bit of a cap pickle coming up. Ship him home for a young stud, who’s signed cheap and for term. Garland is a mid/bottom 6 who has shown he can score. As for the 1st, I’m not sure if it’s too much or too little. Regardless, I’m sure many of you will have something to say about this trade.

Why Chychrun?
As good as Rielly is, sometimes you gotta let guys walk. Do I think they will? Hell no. But IF and I mean IIIIFFF Lehtonen, Sandin, and Liljegren show great promise in the next 2 years (yes I know Lehtonen is only signed for 1) and Chychrun continues doing what he’s done, that’s a potentially solid top 4 core. So TO ‘could’ let Rielly walk.

Granlund Signing: I don’t watch TO much, nor did I watch COL when he was there, but Kerfoot isn’t a 2C. I think? Not sure if Granlund is the best fit, but he seems like the best UFA C to be signed. So why the hell not. Would be a good mentor for fellow Finn, Kapanen too.

Richardson signing: Plug any 4th line veteran C into this spot. I chose BR because I’m personally a fan. Keep Spezza if you want. Just keep it cheap.

No I do not think Arizona would accept the deal.

No I do not think they would let Rielly walk. The kids would really need to show some insane upside for that to happen.
