Hello again. To elaborate a bit, this is more like a deal Calgary would make at the trade deadline just so Iginla can finish out his career with the team he'll be remembered for. His contract is up after this season, and I don't see any reason why he wouldn't waive his NMC.

The only tricky part might be his high cap hit. But if Treleving and Sakic can figure that out, that could be a great moment in Flames history.

As stated in the description, don't worry about the trade return I put. I just want to know if Flames fans (and Avs fans) would be on board with the idea.

This would to be fun to watch, especially if they are in contention for a playoff spot like they should be.

Av's will probably be bad again, so it could happen.

Avs would say no to this trade. They dont need a terrible bottom pairing Dman. iggy has more value than that and he has more value on the Avs currently to move him just for a low package like that.
This isnt going to happen

This may not be the right trade package BUT if the AVS are out of the playoff race and Calgary is in the playoff race there is a deal to be made as the AVS will want to dump some salary (not a rich team) and look good to there players... It would be a good will trade that Iggy and the C of Red would probably really enjoy - yes a feel good - good for hockey move that would get lots of press!!!! There is value in this!!!!

Colin400 -> the thought/idea is appreciated - doubt Iggy would be on the top line but even if he was on a second line with say... Shinkaruk + Bennett or TKACHUK + Bennett or even Frolik + Backs... Well no matter the fit it would be fun to see Iggy back for the last 3rd of his "potentially" last season!!!!

GO FLAMES GO!!!!

The reason I put him on the top line is 1) I don't think Frolik/Brouwer are better than Iginla, and 2) it would create a similar situation to Florida, with their Huberdeau-Barkov-Jagr line. Combined the grizzlied-yet-still-skilled veteran with two young superstars. Could be like a mentorship role.
