Maatta was only a stop gap and either him or De Haan will be traded or Maatta bought out. Why? Because on the left the Hawks have Carlsson, Beaudin, Koekko, Gilbert, Seeler who are cheaper and Carlsson and Keokko have already shown they are better then Maatta and Beaudin given the chance likely is as well. We have zero need for Pilut.

Regarding Montour, we have zero need or space for a $3.4M D guy. Mitchell is more pro ready then Boqvist and will be in the lineup. Mitchell and Regula are automatically protected for the expansion draft....every ELC is. Regula is a year or two away true. Murphy had a back injury in 18/19 and this season missed just under two weeks for a groin injury...not really a big deal missing a week or two. He's easily way better the Montour as is Boqvist and Mitchell more then likely. Montour isn't miles ahead of Seabs....better over the last couple seasons sure, but Seabs has been putting surgery needed for torn labrums in both hips which he had down in Jan and Feb...we'll see when he gets back. Bottom line, with Boqvist, Mitchell, Murphy, Seabs and regula....Hawks have zero interest in picking up a $3.4M Montour.

Again, the Hawks have zero need for a bottom 4 defensive guys. It's been said over and over on here.

Theirs enough evidence on here for me to not really care about strome tbh if you dont feel 8oa is worth him alone, something i said many many times. Thats his value, 8oa and the majority of people including hawks fans said he was worth less. No reason to bend the knee to Bowman

My comment is more around the relentless Sabres fans continuing to offer Risto, Montour, Pilut in trade packages for Strome...Hawks don't want or need them. Again, Jokiharju was expendable because of their prospect depth and because Jokiharju DOES have to be protect next summer in the expansion whereas the other Hawks prospects don't; namely Boqvist and Mitchell.

Regarding the #8OA for Strome, I'm not sure Strome is or isn't worth an 8th. There are arguments both ways. On one hand, is there a sure bet center available at #8, which is debatable and that determines if Strome is worth that or not. If you end up with Holtz then I'd rather have Strome. If you end up with Rossi or Perfetti, I'd rather have Rossi or Perfetti. Lundell may end up being better then Strome but it's a gamble at best 50/50. Who else at #8 is going be better then 50% chance to be better then Strome? If you can answer that, then there's your answer.

Draft picks, besides the lock players, are always gambles and why solid young NHL players that have proven themselves are usually worth more then then the top picks that are locks to be A plus talent.

We trade top 4 RD, LD which could be in Chicago top 4 and our #8 for Strome, which is not a good and stable 2C and fourth liner, it does not make sense.
