How has that been my only argument you don’t even watch laine play one of the best shots in the league one of the best pure goal scorers also added the playmaking development to his game dzone has improved so much still needs work but not close to a liability anymore and still has way more potential give him a actually C and keep him with ehlers and look out but as of rn for a re draft I’d take tkachuk over him maybe but laine ceiling still way higher.

cause all youve done is call me a troll and biased, its not like im giving you bs stats or anything, a number 1 center and d hold more value, if laine can find a consistent game away from puck while being able to score at a crazy rate then this conversation is diffeerent but last year he was awful, he scored 30 goals but that was probably his worst year so far, and this year he improved his game away from the puck but the 40+ scoring pace took a hit, besides tkachuk ( only cause they are both wingers and the jets have lhw in connor and ehlers) if you replace laine with macavoy or dubois they are a better team, laine can change that in the next year or 2 but at this time im taking those guys

No they aren’t you talk about players that are better away from the puck and mention Connor just shows how much you watch the jets lmao

Lanie 305 GP 245 pts -1 30.3ps
Nylander 307 GP 221 pts +12 23.5 ps

How are they not close?

Laine's ceiling is higher,
Nylander is 2 years closer to his prime then him
Nylander plays with Tavares while Laine plays with any 3rd/4th line center Maurice can think of
And his shot is a game changer

Is Laine placed on the 3rd 4th line because he's not very good Defensively - this also suggests his offensive stats are proper up due to playing against weaker competition as you so quickly pointed out Nylander plays with Tavares or Matthews against the top lines in the league

you can bet on potential for sure, i wont argue that laine's ceiling is higher, mr argument is that at this current time, theres really nothing that substantial to say that its not close, i never even said nylander was better once, failed to mention anything about d tho which would be a part of a perfect package

Lol,

Well all I've got to say is I prefer Laine by alot, Nylander stepped up this year quite a bit but doesn't quite have a game changing element (like a lethal shot aka Ovi, Laine, Pasta, Draisaitl and Matthew's) or dangling/puckhandling around opponents (McDavid, Kane etc).. those can have a huge factor in a game

All in all I'm still happy they took Laine 2nd overall, Tkachuk really closed the gap.. but even depth wise after Wheeler jets really only have Laine in the top 6 on the right side and Wheeler is getting close to hitting mid 30s

Btw it's not close, put Laine on Tavares wing and 50 goals wouldn't be that much of a reach

Laine was on the first/second line all the time and played a good 2 way game all season

Stop trolling

Wouldn’t call it game changing per say but he’s one of the best at carrying the puck up the ice and zone entry

Once again, if you were to take both of them before their career started it wouldn’t be a question who is the better player or will be, laine has the higher ceiling potential to be better by a lot but right now it’s close, you can’t base your opinion on an “if” laine has had opportunities through this career, narrative that he’s never had a good center is wrong, your also pretty much saying he can’t generate himself and has to rely on a center, if your using the fact that he doesn’t have good centres

Well he played with Scheif at times and theyr very good together but Maurice refuses to separate Scheif and Wheeler and even puts him with Little while having 0 chemistry... honestly Laine got screwed over his whole career, yes he could've put in more effort but instead of developing him properly by putting him with linemates he clicks with (Scheif, Stasney and maybe/HOPEFULLY Eakin) they just stick him with Little (2nd/3rd line c) who he has 0 chemistry with, his whole career, he got by all this time by relying on him and Ehlers
Granted the jets have the policy (u have to earn your spot and if u rnt good enough ull lose it) which isnt a bad idea but....

Ya, this whole thing just gives me a headache :/
