He knows that hence why he said it was cheaper to OS (2nd) vs your trade 1st + 5th.

Montreal maybe does it for an expensive ahl player instead, just clearing cap space. He was good in montreal year before might still be intrested plus they have tonnes of draft picks.

Because tampa matches then wont trade him too you. Benning is way to conservative as a GM to offer sheet and likes to overpay. Just being realistic. Maybe they do it for a 2nd instead.
