The price for Rieder seems a bit high, change the 1st to a 2nd and I think it's closer. The 4/yr for 7 is an overpayment, 2.5 for 3yrs is more reasonable.

It's an offer sheet. A 1st and a 3rd is what would be given for that price. The Coyotes would probably match anything lower than $4 mil. Putting a skilled player with G would be worth $4 per.

Ok, thought that you were trading for his rights, then signing him. Either way I think that would be too much. Getting another skilled player would be nice just not at that cost for Rieder.

He is young and any UFA we want like an Oshie, Steen etc. will come much more expensive. $4 mil for a top 6 player is pretty cheap!

I agree 4mil for top 6 is good. I just don't think Rieder is that man yet. He hasn't done enough to get that kind of contract. That's why I think he should get a bridge deal just like B. Schenn got a couple of years ago 2yrs for 2.5. If he proves he belongs than he can get his 4/yr or more.

And I agree that would be perfect but like I said if we offer sheet him it's going to have to be for something PHO won't match. Now we can try and trade for him but not sure what the price would be. Maybe a Laughton and a 2nd.

That's about right or keep Laughton and send a 3rd instead. No way at this point I'd give a 1st for him tho.

Agree with achinni18, this offer sheet is way to high. IMO Rieder should get between $2.4 - 3.0 for the next 2 or 3 years. If you want to offer sheet him, try $3.25/2 years or maybe $3.5/3 years. I think, Arizona won´t match this.
