If DET is going to take on Eriksson'd deal, Demko would be a better sweetener than Boeser since DET really does need a starter for the future

Vancouver declines, Probably get you Demko+Eriksson. But that package is nowhere close enough to include Boeser.

Needs or not, every team in the NHL including the Wings would take Boeser over Demko 10/10 times.

Uhhhh except that's not how you build a contender. We saw that in EDM, they always drafted/acquired the best players available but they never managed to build a contender. If you guys don't get a goalie for the future (and getting Demko as a sweetener for Eriksson here is the best way to do that) you're screwed. Big time.

Vancouver would be better off trading Boeser to a contending team, which would be more motivated to trade for him, or for including a more intruiging package to Detroit. Demko works well, because he will be lost for free in the expansion draft if they don't make a deal. Picks are Detroit's bread and butter for their next 2-3 years' trade, and they would get at least one in addition to Demko too. Id rather that than Boeser now honestly.

I think this is a unique situation where there are so many teams with tandem goalies with the upcoming ED we will see some movement. This year is also very nice FA crop of goalies. Realistically Wings are going to be in rebuild for a few years so acquiring a goalie at this time is not a huge priority unless the value favors us.

Eriksson plus 2021 3rd plus Demko for 2021 4th is great for both take it. Protect Demko in the ED. Boom, you've got your young goalie for the long term future

Also yeah agreed DET will be in a rebuilding mode for the next 2-3 years but a reBUILD is also about building something, which is where Demko becomes important for you guys

Depends on how you value young goalies that haven’t proven anything in the NHL. The difference between those two picks is very minimal and the cost to unload Eriksson would be a 1st plus. So it comes down to how much you value Demko? Does he offset the 1st plus you’d get for Eriksson? I don’t think so as people like to use Lehner as a recent comp. if you look at Lehner’s stats pre-Buffalo (age 19-23) to Demko (age 22-24) Lehner already posted better numbers and a larger sample size while being a year younger. I’d also wager most Buffalo fans say they lost that trade. Oddly enough Lehner is a FA this offseason and still young enough to spearhead a rebuild and would cost nothing but cap. So Now my rationalize is would I rather have Lehner or a cap dump and Demko for the same cap hit? Demko + 2nd + Eriksson for FC is where I start to really think about it.
