Realistic Look at Next Season

Description
My expectations going into next season. This factors in Scott Powers' report that we will have 1.1 million in overages carried over to next season (thus the 1.3 in cap space left).

- Two year bridge deals for Kubalik and Strome. This will give time to move a couple bigger contracts off the books (ex: Saad & Shaw) and prove that they can keep up production to get paid on the next ones.

- Buyout Smith & Maatta (Maatta could potentially be traded, however with the tight cap for all teams and how well his contract is structured for a buyout it's far more likely).

- Sign a 1 year position filler contract with Crawford at a discount. It would give time to see if Delia or Lankinen will be ready to take over or if we need to look at other options (however if Crawford can't play these playoffs, we might see some of that sooner).

- Shaw could potentially end up on the LTIR and it would free some room. Depending on his health with his concussions, that could change the roster with ability to go get a cheaper option or give some of the kids a chance out of camp (such as Kurashev or Barratt).

- Fully expect Mitchell to make the team out of camp and they give him every opportunity to play. Give the blueline a boost of youth (Boqvist this year and Mitchell next year. Beaudin coming up soon as well).

- Either trade or not tender offers and let walk (I don't really care either way) Caggiula & Koekkoek.

but obviously that means someone from the 3rd line has to be moved down and it definitely shouldn't be Dach or Nylander. Maybe Shaw, but he's on the right side and Suter is a C or LW.

the most likley scenario is to trade Saad. Then our lines would be:
Kubalik-toews-Debrincat
Nylander-Dach-Kane
Suter-Strome-shaw
Kurashev/Highmore/Hagel-Kampf-Carpenter

Don't really like these lines. You can't have Kubalik and Cat on the same line - they are both snipers who need playmakers. Also, since we have a good number of defensively irresponsible forwards, trading Saad is a very bad idea. Just drop Shaw to the 4th line, put Saad on the 1st line with Toews/Kubalik, and drop Cat to the 3rd. I think Suter would be a good winger for Cat/Strome.

We can't afford to keep everyone, we also don't have cap space. I also think it would be foolish for nylander's development to put him on the 4th line. Kubalik is more than a sniper

We have the cap space if we buyout or trade Maatta and Smith. Kubalik may be good at other things, but his main role on the team is sniper. In my proposal I suggested moving Shaw to the 4th line, not Nylander. I've thought about it some more though, and here's the lines I would run:

Saad - Toews - Kubalik
Suter - Dach - Kane
DeBrincat - Strome - Nylander
Kurashev/Highmore - Kampf - Shaw/Carpenter

That second line worries me defensivly. Shaw would be a really good linemate for debrincat and strome. So its eigher nylander on the 4th or we trade saad. We could run
Kubalik-Toews-Nylander
Suter-Dach-Kane
Debrincat-Strome-Shaw
Kurashev-Kampf-Carpenter
