I do find it fascinating though that the only thing in AGM that anybody can comment on is whether a trade is good or bad.</div></div>
By your logic, this entire post is irrelevant.

Build for Bedard
Not bad. Just my personal opinion on some things.
Find a different veteran defenseman to sign in Smiths place, I'm not bringing on the dude that broke Bedard's jaw like <a href="/users/slickwilly" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@slickwilly</a> mentioned. If you sign Zaitsev it should be as the 7th defenseman and in his spot rotate all the young defenseman who are on the cusp of being NHLers. Commesso is not ready to be a backup yet. I think he needs to spend another year in Rockford and hopefully gets called up for a couple games here and there. No need to trade Donato. He is a good 4th liner. Using a retention slot will only leave them with 1 retention slot come the deadline and it will be more useful then if they want to trade Hall, Smith, Athanasiou, or Raddysh.

If Chicago Wasnt Rebuilding
It’s good that you addressed we are rebuilding and this is a ‘if we weren’t rebuilding… so that aside, 12 UFAs is crazy and extremely unrealistic. Many of them I don’t like. Either too much money or term for Noesen, Edmundson, Zadorov and Bertuzzi. Why sign Raddysh to a contract that can’t be completely buried if you’re just gonna send him down? Lot of left over cash spent on scratched players that could be used elsewhere. Half a mil there, 200k there. It adds up. No left over spots for young players who might crack the lineup even the following year because you’re giving out term like candy. Edit: they’re also screwed when Bedard needs a new contract.

Draft day blockbuster with Ottawa
- Hawks draft Celebrini if they have 1st overall. No need to complicate things here.
- Not trading Kurashev for a third and Clarke. Would rather see how he continues to develop.
- That move doesn’t make sense for Carolina. They are giving up one of their best prospects for a defenseman that would be 3rd pair on their team. They’ll probably just resign Chatfield and be fine on the right side.

The guentzel package is not on par with the Canes package. They provided better prospects. Tarasanko only cost that much because he had a full NTC and controlled his destination.

Can we stop trying to push the pro hockey group content on this site? Their overall scores, that are now displayed next to players name on trades, are terribly measured/calculated. There’s not even a source for what they are determining goes into each metric that contributes to these scores. They appear to be completely subjective.

I really doubt Davidson brings in Deangelo just given his personal history. But I am interested in another Canes defenseman if he hits the market, Chatfield. Not interested in signing Carter, even for league min. The dude is absolutely washed.

Mock Draft without Coming Soon Explanations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Z0ra</b></div><div>Plus, I actually doubt that he will be available before the Hawks 2nd round pick.</div></div>
I shouldn't have said "no way" to the hawks drafting Howe at 19 because it is a possibility whether I agree with it or not. I have revisited Howe since I last reviewed his game in December and think he likely lands somewhere in the 20s. So maybe not the largest stretch but 19 is certainly on the higher side.
The way I see the hawks draft playing out is they will draft the best available player with their own first. If that pick is a forward then they will draft a RD with the Tampa pick. If that pick is a defenseman, they will draft a forward with the Tampa pick. This factors in big time of picking Howe with the Tampa pick or any forward for that matter.
One other possibility if the hawks want Howe and don't think they can get him with their own 2nd is moving up that pick. The hawks have a ton of draft picks since 2022 going forward. It's time to get quality not quantity with some of these picks so I would not be surprised if we see Davidson move up the Tampa pick or our second rounder.

No way the hawks stretch and take Howe at 19. I don’t care about the Bedard former teammate angle. They’ll take a chance on him using a 2nd round pick if they want. And if they draft a forward with their own first, I’ll be willing to bet they draft a RD with the Tampa first.

What is left for the deadline
I’m not sure how much interest our guys will receive. Blackwell has been good and could bring a later round pick. Johnson’s cap hit may be too high, even half retained, for most playoff teams. Teams could bring in Tarasanko for the same cap hit as Johnson for some perspective. But I just want to see some effort to get back some of the later round picks we used this year like you said. We may be more likely to gain those picks back by retaining in a three team trade.

I’m happy to see Davidson is looking for stability and rewarding players for their play instead of having the team be a revolving door over the next few years. Building the culture is just as important as gaining assets.

Chicago 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Hopefully none of this is happening, aside from the Reichel extension. Vlasic is going to get significantly more than that. KD isn't dipping into free agency, and I doubt most of these guys even make it to free agency. Even aside from all that, there isn't a young up and coming NHLer I want less than Zegras. Reinhart and Guentzel would be great if we were ready to end the rebuild, but CHI is far from ready to add. All this would do is create roadblocks and likely get us stuck in mediocrity for a long time. Also, if CHI is gonna win another lottery, I think I'd rather it be the 2025 draft. Hagens is better than Celebrini, in my opinion. Or, at least, he is going to be.</div></div>
I really wish I would stop seeing Zegras to the hawks on this site. Just simply not the type of player I’d want to bring in.

The French HUGONAUTs
Monahan was a serviceable cap dump with 1 year at 6.3 mil and that cost Calgary a first. I would want a first to take on Anderson. Anderson has a slightly lower cap hit but he has two years. The 2nd year extending into Bedard’s next contract. And who knows what ‘serviceable’ will look like for Anderson by the 25-26 season.
