No way the hawks stretch and take Howe at 19. I don’t care about the Bedard former teammate angle. They’ll take a chance on him using a 2nd round pick if they want. And if they draft a forward with their own first, I’ll be willing to bet they draft a RD with the Tampa first.

It is a reach yes, but it would be a great storyline. If someone like Jiricek is still available then yes the Hawks will be all over him

If Dallas is drafting a defenseman, I don't know that they are going to draft another LD that is essentially Lian Bichsel-lite. I think they either go RD with Henry Mews, or with a more offensive/two-way LD like Kiviharju.

That being said, if I'm the one making the call, I'm going for Artamonov. Russian factor is going to scare some teams off, but you don't find 17-year olds doing as well as he's doing in Russia's top league. Stars are in need of forwards, replacing Johnston, Stankoven, and Bourque in their pipeline. Work on this kids skating and he's going to be an absolute steal in the late 20s

I've been wanting Elick since the start of the season, was hoping Detroit would draft him with the Boston 1st when we had it. I would like to see that from them this year, it would really solidify our defense and we could start to take focus on skilled forwards.

Plus, I actually doubt that he will be available before the Hawks 2nd round pick.

I shouldn't have said "no way" to the hawks drafting Howe at 19 because it is a possibility whether I agree with it or not. I have revisited Howe since I last reviewed his game in December and think he likely lands somewhere in the 20s. So maybe not the largest stretch but 19 is certainly on the higher side.

The way I see the hawks draft playing out is they will draft the best available player with their own first. If that pick is a forward then they will draft a RD with the Tampa pick. If that pick is a defenseman, they will draft a forward with the Tampa pick. This factors in big time of picking Howe with the Tampa pick or any forward for that matter.

One other possibility if the hawks want Howe and don't think they can get him with their own 2nd is moving up that pick. The hawks have a ton of draft picks since 2022 going forward. It's time to get quality not quantity with some of these picks so I would not be surprised if we see Davidson move up the Tampa pick or our second rounder.
