Good for him, hope he wins it all, and Chicago has to pay some of his old contract, really sounds like they screwed him over.

Might as well open up a rehab center under the team name

I already dislike the Oilers and now I don't like them more. Never liked Corey Perry, E. Kane, Nurse and I'm not liking McDavid since he gets away with almost anything cause of his stardom and he brings revenue to the sport. Now that they have Perry EDM will reach cup finals and lose just like DAL and MTL did when they had Perry on their team. They can have the Perry curse.

Not bad for Perry, but 3.5 mill in performance bonus cap hit for EDM next year is rough

How in the world did the Hawks screw him over?!?!?! They paid him WELL more than market and he goes and drunkenly harassed an employee.

Cory plays right wing for Drai. Wow! Now they stil need additional goalie. What about to swap Campbell for Merzlikins + some sweets?

Plus with half his Hawks' deal in signing bonus and all he needs for 225k of his perf. bonus is 10 GP, he really only stands to miss out on ~500k of the original $4m as a result of the termination.

Don't like the Oil at all. Actually it's their fans that drive me nuts. But this is a fantastic signing by them. This is who they needed years ago. I still don't believe their defense is up to the challenge, but this is a huge step in the right direction for them to actually contend this year.... just make sure the mom trip get's canceled...

Says? That hasn’t been confirmed, and he doesn’t get all of the money, the hawks cut him because they didn’t want a “controversy”. It has never been said he harassed an employee. And if the hawks didn’t screw him the NHLPA wouldn’t have filed grievance, right?

What are you talking about? Corey Perry himself has confirmed his inappropriate conduct. He's issued a whole apology statement and everything. It's not a "controversy" because there's no disagreement. He admitted his inappropriate conduct and his need for help of alcohol abuse. If the termination was unwarranted the player would ABSOLUTELY want to get all his money. There wouldn't even be a single millisecond of hesitation. He would have done it. The NHLPA would have already done it. I'm NOT trying to say people don't deserve second chances. I'm NOT trying to say he's evil or any nonsense. I'm saying only the absolute obvious that's been verified. Something went down with him while he was drunk with a female employee that was not reciprocated to the point where the Hawks conducted an internal investigation and terminated his contract. Corry Perry has admitted fault.

I wish him luck on his future and that he gets all the help he needs. Just go get the facts. He didn't AT ALL get screwed over.

Yet another reason to root against the Oilers... not that I was lacking in reasons before this signing

Perry's is good, browns isn't. I assume we move Campbell to compensate for it, but still not the greatest.

Perry should be a good addition for Edmonton this season.

But the Oilers are really piling on the dead cap next year:

$3,850,000 = Campbell (Buried)
$3,225,000 = Browny (Bonus)
$1,920,000 = Nealy (Buyout)
$ - 325,000 = Perry (Bonus)
-------------------------------------
$9,320,000 = Total Costs

Buying out Campbell can reduce it by $2,100,000 though.

But they'll be hit with a $1,750,000 penalty for 6 years.

Maybe they'll trade Campbell with picks / prospects?

I hope they move Brown at the deadline to free themselves of that bonus then buy out Campbell, saves ~7M next season meaning we only have ~3M in dead cap.

Honestly, next year's cap can be figured out next year. If there has ever been a time to "go for it" it is now. You have McDrai in their primes, the team is the deepest it's been since the McDrai era started, and they seem to finally have figured everything out after a ****ty start. Time to go all-in and hope for the best.
