What is left for the deadline

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 24, 2024
Published: Jan. 24, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hawks have come out and said they are not going to be as active during the trade deadline. With their injury issues and the lack of high quality rentals I don’t foresee any significant moves. With that being said what kind of moves could they put together if another team was interested?

Please note that I am not suggesting that we trade each player listed, or complete all of the suggested trades. I think the hawks might make one or two moves this deadline to recoup some later round picks.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. 2024 4th round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Blackwell, Colin
Additional Details:
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the hawks resign Blackwell, since coming back he has shown a high standard of play, good motor, and surprising scoring touch. With all things considered I’d say a 4th round pick is correct.
2.
CHI
  1. 2024 5th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Depth D.
TOR
  1. Tinordi, Jarred
Additional Details:
He’s not good, but he is tough, and boy you wouldn’t want to see what would happen if him an reaves were on the ice together.
3.
CHI
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (NJD)
NJD
  1. Johnson, Tyler ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
He is one I think is likely to be moved, a veteran player who knows how to win. I think a 2nd or a 3rd is likely, and NJD are the type of team I think he would want to go to.

I see Tinordi as discount Luke Schenn, but I guess Schenn wasn’t that good anyways lol.

What do you think about 32 thoughts podcast saying the leafs might not “go for it” this year, would you be okay if this was the only move?

Yeah for sure I’d be okay with this and zero chance we spend a 1st this year this team isn’t winning anything this year lol no point in big spending

I was surprised to see the leafs had 9 picks in the draft this year, they really can’t afford to move much in the way of picks with how they have traded them in the past couple of years.

The leafs don't want to see what happens when Reaves is on the ice. Tinordi isn't an NHLer

Devils should be spending on a full-time center. No need for a winger.

I’m not sure how much interest our guys will receive. Blackwell has been good and could bring a later round pick. Johnson’s cap hit may be too high, even half retained, for most playoff teams. Teams could bring in Tarasanko for the same cap hit as Johnson for some perspective. But I just want to see some effort to get back some of the later round picks we used this year like you said. We may be more likely to gain those picks back by retaining in a three team trade.

Blackwell and Tinordi aren’t really worth those prices, COL definitely declines

To me, Blackwell, T Johnson and Megna are the only 3 players that might draw interest leading up to the deadline. Blackwell probably returns a 5th max unless the Hawks retain. Johnson a 4th max half retained. Megna a 6th. He's actually been pretty solid. I'm not sure anyone takes Tinordi for F/C the way he's played this year.
