Trades
1.
COL
  1. Gourde, Yanni ($666,666 retained)
  2. 2021 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Gourde is a versatile two-way forward who just happens to be a bit overpaid for the role he's currently playing. He has good possession metrics and faceoff %; great PK stats; and has a -14% xGA/60 at 5v5 which shows that he's still defensively solid, and with a +1% xGF/60 his team is creating chances with him on the ice at just above league average per 60, which is impressive considering that he's mostly been playing on the 3rd or 4th line.

That said, for for great metrics Tampa are in a huge cap squeeze, and already paid a premium to acquire Coleman and Goodrow. Moving Gourde would solve a huge problem for them, and it would be worth it for them to pay a 1st if it meant being able to keep all of Cirelli/Sergachev/Cernak. The price would be expensive as Colorado would likely be one of the only teams Gourde would waive to play for.
TBL
  1. 2021 7th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Contract wise Gourde does have 5 year term, but his NTC becomes a 23 team trade-to list from 2022 onwards so this is more manageable of a contract than it seems.

A lot of fans were scratching their heads when Sakic acquired Burakovsky and Nichuskin last summer, and perhaps Gourde could be another one of those questionable acquisitions that later turns out to be a shrewd move.
2.
COL
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (SJS)
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (WSH)
SJS
  1. Compher, J.T.
Additional Details:
San Jose need RHS forwards, and Compher would be a good fit in their middle 6.
3.

  1. Kamenev, Vladislav [RFA Rights]

  1. Baertschi, Sven
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (VAN)
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (VAN)

Fair points. I hope you appreciate that I'm purposefully being a bit defensive on the Gourde idea to kind of entice some comments like yours. I really appreciate hearing the different viewpoints as it helps me form an informed opinion on players. I think there's going to be much better and less risky deals for Colorado this offseason than this, so I wouldn't do this trade unless I had exhausted most other possibilities.

All good bro. I love that you do so many ACGM’s because I don’t have the time to do it, and you do some like this that I don’t like. What fun would it be if I agreed with everything you said? Now do an ACGM where we send Mikko and Newhook for Eichel, then Kadri for Rackell, and get another winger for Timmins, and then flip Compher and Z for Lafreniere. 😂

Haha, glad to be of service! smile

I try to look at new ideas, but after so many AGM's there's only so many new ideas to come up with that aren't utterly unrealistic. Making AGM's helps me better learn about other teams rosters and needs so I find it quite informative. I also appreciate feedback from posters like yourself, good and bad, as that helps me learn about values a bit more.

Speaking of Kadri, I actually wouldn't be super surprised if he got traded in 2021, particularly if Newhook does a Makar in the 2021 playoffs. It would essentially be the same situation as Makar/Barrie.

Because Gourde won't waive to a lottery team maybe? ...

I'm sure a lot of teams would offer that deal, but the crux of the matter is that Gourde actually has to waive. And if I'm him I wouldn't want to go to a team that's looking like they're soon going to be entering into a long rebuild.

Well if thats the fact there would be zero reason to trade for Compter

Compher has a shorter 3 year contract than Gourde's 5. SJ might have like 1 or maybe 2 good seasons in them if things fall right. By by year 3-5 things won't be looking up.
