Important question to ask is after all the trades ... does the team look better? It definitely does not here.

Ottawa isnt trading karlsson for trouba and spare parts, Edmonton isn't taking Phanuef's salary and he plays the wrong side, doubt he displaces klef or sekera at this point. Philly isn't taking Ryans salary and giving you a very good defensive center for him.

If you want to be able to pry Karlsson from us you'll

1) Have to send back your best player, which is either Byfuglien or Scheifele. But because Scheifele is younger and on the better contract, we'll start with Scheifele.

2) Send back a replacement for the position. Ceci's not ready for first pairing minutes and competition, so we'll need a first pairing right handed defenseman. Tyler Myers probably would make the most sense, since he probably can play first pair, but plays second pair on Winnipeg.

3) You need to take salary back. Phaneuf or MacArthur most preferable.

4) Balance it out with draft picks/prospects, with Winnipeg probably having to add a couple 2nd-5th round picks.

5) Don't do the trade anyways. Ottawa's completely fine at centre, and Karlsson is our franchise player. No touching.
