they had down years but trading 2 high-end 1st line players for 1 elite 1st line player is an overpay

That's too much, nobody is giving up 2/3 of their top line plus multiple 1st round picks for Eichel.

it kind of is, were giving up 2 top line players on good contracts for 1 really good top line player, & oh yah were throwing in 2 1sts & our goalie no thanks

And he is under team control for 6 years at a very manageable hit.
Unfortunately for you guys you don't have prospects to make a trade work. So 2 years of gaudreau and a downgrade in a 1c. Is what you pay idk what yo say what would you think an eichel trade looks like??

That's a fair Eichel trade.

He's a top 5-10 C in the league right now, with potential to get up into the top 5. He is not Connor McDavid or Sydney Crosby from 10 years ago.

Thats definitely close but there is no center in there. Those picks will be late. So Tkachuk and 3 late firsts.

The 2020 1st is middle of the pack, not late, and I'd be fine swapping Monahan for Tkachuk if the Sabres wanted a C as part of the return. I just used Tkachuk because he's younger and an RFA instead of a UFA at the expiration of his current contract.

Either way, I don't see anyone giving up more than that. Just my opinion.
