No real interest in domi or mete. Neal has outscored drouin consistently so that’s kinda a wash for the most part russell shouldn’t be trying to pawn off because he was the oilers most consistent defender. Can’t say there is anything to this deal that makes it tempting for oilers.

Fair enough. I don't know the Oilers that well to understand their needs. Based on how the playoffs went it seems it's always the same three getting points (McDavid, Draistl and RNH). Plus it seemed Neal was playing on fourth line so thought maybe his salary was weighing them down. Good luck with getting #1 overall. Of all the teams that I have a chance I'd like to see Edmonton or Winnipeg get it.

Ok.... Every 4 last season, Drouin had a better season ppg wise compared to Neal. Get real bud

If Montreal wants to throw that much value at the Oilers just to take Lafreniere, I absolutely consider it if I'm Edmonton. Here's my thought process:

1. Does McDavid believe this team's 5v5 woes are more apt to be solved by an 18 year-old winger with no NHL experience or through skilled players with NHL experience? He's missed the playoffs again, not too sure he's going to be a happy customer this offseason despite the minimal improvements.
2. Flipping Domi makes addressing Edmonton's defensive issues a possible thing. The UFA class this season has next to no options for quality defenders. Alternatively, flip him to Buffalo for the #8 pick.
3. Freeing up Neal and Russell's hits lets Edmonton go after Hall long-term. He and Drouin together form a considerable solution for the Oilers' long-term starboard deficiencies while making Edmonton a bonafide 5v5 nightmare for the next 3+ seasons.
4. Lafreniere has an NHLe comparable to what Hall had in his draft year: he's undeniably a great talent, but I genuinely think he's being over-hyped. His boots leave me wanting.

If trading this pick - especially with this much value for the Oilers - is a possibility, I think you have to at the very least think about it:

Hall - McDavid - Puljujarvi
Drouin - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
[] - Nugent-Hopkins - []

You're two quality wingers from having an equivalent offensive setup to the 80's Oilers. You're in range to draft Askarov at #16, thus finally checking off all of the question marks behind whether or not Konovalov and Rodrigue are going to be NHL talents. If you get Buffalo's pick for Domi, you've added your long-term winger there. If you flip him for (as an example) Spurgeon or Dumba, you're an immediate, honest-to-god contender.

There's a couple more salary hoops the Oilers likely have to jump through, but I'd be damn curious to see if this is possible.
