Initial Creation Date: Aug. 15, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Here is some wishful thinking:

- unlikely Krug signs with Montreal but I think it would be a great fit for the team if he did. Krug is a great LHD which Montreal needs.
- I like Lemiuex's game. He has some skill but is also a pain in the ass to play against. I feel like the rangers are relatively high on his game also but if they need to make moves for cap reasons that would be a move I do not mind for Montreal. The contract I gave him may also be an overpayment.
- Next year should be the year where the let the kids play. It should be a good mix of young guys and the big vets. This team could be a lower seeded playoff team if these moves were made or could just miss the playoffs. Depending on positioning going into the trade deadline will determine what the Canadiens do.

May be beneficial for the Canadiens to sell a little at the deadline unless if they are a serious contender (which is unlikely). Selling Tatar would give us assets b/c it is unlikely we have room for him going forward. He did great for the habs in his 3 years.

Domi has been a great player for the Canadiens also. Unfortunately, with a salary cap its tough to keep him unless its a longer term deal at a good AAV. Friedman had a rumour of maybe him being a Penguin next year. Obviously if Krug signed in MTL Mete may be out also. Maybe package those guys to Pit. They shouldn't cost to much for the Pens.

Lastly, Caufield signs if NCAA cancels season or pushes it back. My guess is he either plays in OHL or AHL. Maybe gets called up at the end of the year if it goes really well for him but you don't want to rush development.

Anyone have an idea of what a trade deadline Tatar trade could look like? Also, any changes to be made to the Penguins trade?

alright sure we will give a 3rd or one of our 3 seconds. Canadiens are staked with draft picks this year. Not to worried about it

Fair enough. If they were to trade him to MTL, what would you want as a rangers fan?

He's too important to our team to trade. 2nd is fair but it just goes down to how much we value what he brings.

Just cause he has the same last name as Mario doesn't make him Mario! The Rangers would absolutely give him up for a 5th anything higher than that is just gravy. Lemieux is the equivalent of Weise. He has never had more than 18 points in a season FFS.

it's not the points. He brings grit and physicality to our team. We aren't trading him for peanuts.

Then I guess we will trade you Domi for 1st OVA! That would be a fair deal by that type of logic! Oh wait Domi has skill as well so Rangers would have to add their next 2 firsts as well

How

Well if Points and skill don't matter and you can trade a bottom 6 guy for more than a 2nd. Than a top 6 forward has to be worth 1st OVA + 2 more 1st's

Realistically lemieux is probably worth a 3rd with his style of play. Rangers would be crazy not to take a 2nd but I would understand. Domi could be worth a 1st depending on team needs. Domi can bring a lot playing the right role.

I agree Domi's value is a mid to late 1st and could raise a bit depending on how the rest of the playoffs go. Lemeuix on the other hand IMO tops out at a 4th round pick. Think about it Lehkonen is worth a 3rd or 4th. No way a 4th line forward the equivalent of Wiese is worth that much.

Yeah that isn't happening. Domi + Mete for 2020 1st + Legare + 3rd is more likely the cost

I don’t understand why people don’t understand this. It’s the same thing with Roy to the kings when leaf fans try to trade dermott for him. It’s not that it’s not fair it’s the NEED!

It's baffling right? they just look at the points and think they can have them for free.... Nonsense.

Yeah I don’t get it. He then tries to be cute with you and says a top 6 fwd is worth 1ovr and 2 more firsts... that’s not what you said at all, lol

Matt Roy could be the long term answer for Morgan Rielly imo. Kapanen should start the talks at least lol.

Not that LA should even move him but with the expansion draft and Durzi in the minors maybe it's not the most crazy idea.

I wouldn’t mind kappanen, I’ve said I’ve liked that deal. Kings would then have to find a RD cause they really don’t have a replacement.

It is so difficult to predict the value tbh. I feel like there are some teams who can really use Domi so they may overpay. If the habs are going to trade him, I think they need to try and get back an NHL ready prospect. Having Pit's first and legare is ok it just might not make us better immediately
