What Avs Can Do this Offseason

Created by: coga16
Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2020
Published: Aug. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Roster to show what Avs could do safely this off season spending in UFA as shown with the Top LW spot. Using conservative numbers for all their RFAs this off season, and taking 1 person being selected in the expansion draft. Trying to show how 6.5m this off season is the safe number to spend without doing major moves to keep the cap working. This also takes into consideration either they re-up Grubeaur or make another play on a 1G giving them a healthy 5m cap hit to be realistic

If there is any sort of rise in Cap bc of the Seattle coming in. Then its really a non concern for them, but that wont really take place until this season is complete so how a 6.5m UFA spending and keeping their own really is the safest move the Avs can do long term

Why don’t you just bring Grubauer back? Do you not trust him any more?

I think he comes back but I dont think they extend him this offseason, they let him play into his UFA without a contract so made it more of Someone will be in net.
He will be 30 years old when he needs to sign a new contract, I could see them moving into a younger direction via Trade if he doesnt lock things down next season. So far he has been good in the bubble. Just needs to keep it up

        Couple small points.
I think both Landeskog and Makar get 500-750k less than those deals.
I dont think we see LOC make this roster before Bowers does (even if him or Jost need to play out of position).

So I agree that $6.5M would be around the *absolute* safe number for a UFA winger, but I think it'd be worth the risk going into the $8-8.5M range for Hall. Also, it looks like you have Donskoi getting taken by Seattle here. Personally, I'd take Compher/Graves/Francouz over Donskoi. Then if Hall was actually taken (and Makar/Landy/Grub got these max raises), Donskoi would probably get traded.

Also - I'd think Bowers would be in the roster at this point. Maybe over O'Connor?

I just tried to be conservative with numbers and added a little extra on some guys just so worse case scenerio that even overspending a bit they still are within cap
compliance. Like I gave TImmins a healthy raise bc...who knows?

To this point, I feel like Timmins is the one player you undersold the worst (best?) case scenario. Assuming 2 great years, we're prepped to give Makar $9M. But if Timmins has 1 solid year, he only gets a $200k raise? Absolutely nitpicking cause it all evens out but think he could be up to 2x$2M. Excited to see him play more.

Next season he will be a full time NHLer, he had a really good full season in the AHL, so who know what role he really has on the team next year. Could be 1.5m could be 2m, could only be 975k. Hes such a cap wild card

Once again, a nice regular season team you've built here that immediately gets crushed in the playoffs because their Defense get ready for it....ISN'T DEEP ENOUGH & CAN'T PLAY DEFENSE

You’re just a troll based on this post, they went to game 7 OT of round 2 with their 3 string goalie.

You’re not very bright are you
