Description
First of all, I want apologize for my possible errors in my english (its not my main language. Because of it, i want level up my knowledge of english in discussions with capfriendly community.

Alright, about challendge.
You must make list of 3 players who retired already, and 3 players who active in present day (dont mater if player plays in other team or leave nhl).
And also write please reason(s) why this player deserve jersey retirement.

My favorite team - blues.
12 Adam Oates - of course, his time as a blues was short, but his play helped golden Brett reach 86 goal season. 12 16 duo most memorable in blues history. Its sad what his name not on the cup and retire his number as a blues together with his buddy Hull will be fair.

31 Curtis Joseph - i believe what his best career years has in STL. Blues fans loves him, CuJo like STL. He has dont want leave STL but it happen (thanks Keenan). And his jersey retirement will be a message for HOF committee.

7 Keith Tkachuk - I know what number 7 its in special category in blues. I mean its number of Gary Unger too, but 543 GP and 427 P Tkachuk as a blues will be enough for retirement.

27 Alex Pietrangelo - first captain who hoist a cup, no 2 in points as D after MacInnis in franchise history (will be no 1 if he comeback for next season).

57 David Perron - 350 P in 550 games may not even enough for jersey retirement conversation, but in my opinion he show strong loyality for club. Its his thitd time duty as a blues, organization lose nothing in vgk expansion and he comeback for reasonable cap hit past year also he help bring cup.

20 Alex Steen - first years in organization he was 1 / 2 line center, produce respectful amount of points. Last years in 3 and 4 line good on PK. In top 5 for GP and P in franchise history (765 - 496).

Well 91 federov needs to go up. It just has too. Id like to see 16 for vladdy go up too. 16 has been sort of unofficially retired since it hasnt been used since he wore it.

I think No 13 jersey retirement in the future will be epic

I think he gets up there but hes probably the only one who does from those teams. I think zetter and kronwall fall short of that level. I probably should have added Marcel Pronovost 3 to the list. Dude is in the hall of fame.

Colorado (not counting Quebec stats here)

Hejduk- played in COL his whole career, one cup, 02-03 Richard trophy, 750+ pts

Tanguay- 400pts in 450 games, one cup, clutch playoff points/goals

Blake- one of the best D to play for COL not named Bourque or Foote, one cup

MacKinnon - no explanation needed, will end career holding most of every COL offensive record there is (maybe not most points in a season 120 by Sakic, or most goals in a season)

hard to pick 2 other recent players giving the short history of Colorados existence (since 1996).
Erik Johnson might get up there as hes been here 10 years plus and hes been an alternate captain for a while
Landeskog probably gets retired if they can win a cup and hes captain long term

Remember when Colorado retired Ray Bourque’s 77 when he only played for them about 15 months? That made sense

Glad you agreed, didn’t want to pick a fight not trying to put your organization down, bc as much as we’re rivals, Avs are a good organization. But yeah it’s silly, never made sense. It’d be like if the Red Wings retired Luc Robitaille’s #20 bc he finally won a cup with us. I’m sure there are other good examples across the league like that.

I think I read once, that at the time there were 4 numbers retired and they were all from Nordiques day, none from Avs yet. I’m not sure how much that factored into it? By that I mean maybe owners wanting to recognize the Avs more? But now that you have Sakic, Forsberg, Roy, and Foote up there as Avs. Bourque just looks insanely out of place

Bourque is absolutely out of place up there.

As for the rivalry, its been put to bed.
DET is out of the conference, only playoff meeting to ever be had would be a cup final.

I’m aware. I definitely worded my rivals comment wrongly. And I wouldn’t consider myself a fan stuck in the past.

It was certainly fun indeed! It’s a shame we don’t see Chicago enough anymore either.
But the instant rivalries that we developed with Toronto, Habs, and Boston (when Wings still good) when we first got placed in this division was an exciting glimpse of how things could be in the future. Looking forward to competing again.
And it looks like the Avs, Vegas, and Dallas all aren’t budging from top anytime soon, so that’s exciting too.

I can agree with COL vs STL.
I thought COL vs NSH heated up after meetings in first round a few years ago
