Description
Leafs get Marcus Foligno, a enforcer who can also contribute a bit offensively and is an indimidating presence, something this team desperately needs.

Leafs also get Jared Spurgeon, a great all around defenseman who can contribute a lot offensively and play amazing defense.

Leafs get Georgiev, a replacement goalie for andersen. Georgiev and Campbell can split starts throughout the season, which ensures both are rested and don't have a huge workload.

Leafs sign Joe Thornton, he can provide a veteran presence and still contribute offensively.

Leafs resign Jason Spezza, y'all know why.

It's a good attempt at the Leafs roster. But I really don't want Spurgeon for 7.5m X 7 yr. Assuming Nylander and Spurgeon are about even in a trade, that is way too much to give up for one year of Foligno.

Spurgeon for nylander is a super interesting idea for both teams

Ok, so here's my problem with this trade idea.

Kudos for thinking outside the box on this one, that said.

Other than the fact Spurgeon has a full NMC, the Wild will be looking for a new captain post Koivu.

Our two leading candidates for the C next year?

Marcus Foligno and Jared Spurgeon.

Now, can anyone tell me why I have a problem with this?

Disagree. Spurgeon for Nylander is a landslide win for Minnesota and Dubas should be shot into the Atlantic using a cannon if he makes such a stupid swap

I can only assume that you have a problem with this because this is capfriendly, where everybody vastly understates the value of all Leafs players based on nothing more than their being Leafs.

Indeed.
Just weird to see so many ACGMs made where fans of other teams are frustrated with Leaf fans for trades that are lopsided and then seeing this presented like its fair lol

The proposed trade is of course not fair. A leafs fan commented on nylander and spurgeon being about even and I commented that the idea was super interesting, then you said some words.

Really? That's your take away from that? Leafs fans overrate their players at the same rate if not more than everyone else for all players not named Marner or Mathews.

I like Nylander but he's not that good. The value being represented here in the trade is absolutely fair. I have no issues with it at all. My issue with the trade since you can't seem to want to bother reading what I posted is that the two leading candidates for our next captain, ie... heart and soul of team kind of guys, are both getting traded here.

How is that not obvious?

Yes.
Those words, put another way, went something like this:
That is not an interesting trade for the Leafs. Its a terrible idea for the Leafs

Oh I know what you were getting at.
The value is so far off in the Wilds favour that you'd have to take it, regardless of leadership.
Also, Foligno will never be captain there or anywhere.

I will, especially knowing that this management group won't trade a solid, 24 year old, top 6 forward for a 30 year old diminutive defender on a bloated contract.
It's gonna be a great day
