Hawks Opening Lineup

Created by: lfchockey
Team: 2016-17 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 14, 2016
Published: Sep. 19, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Schmaltz will make the team and they'll give him an opportunity to produce right away by placing him with Toews and Hossa who are defensively responsible enough to help ease him into the league.

After watching him in Traverse City, I think Forsling is very close to being NHL ready and the Hawks will give him a shot to start the season. I don't see him staying with the Hawks for more than a handful of games, and he'll head back to the SHL after the typical 9-game trial so that he can polish his game for 2017.

Curious what happens with Pokka and Gus. They're both able to play in the NHL for sure. I think they'll end up trading one of them.

I find it hard to believe that they will play Forsling over Pokka at all. Pokka is more NHL ready and is probably a player int he expansion decisions. They will want to see what they truly have in Pokka before they bring in Frosling.

I actually agree with you as well and for a few reasons. Pokka's contract is up next year where Forsling just signed, let's see what he can do...and...Need to have either Gus or TVR on the roster for an easy expansion choice. Forsling and Pokka both have higher ceilings than TVR and Gus. Like he said in the description, people are high on Forsling because he's playing quite well in Traverse City right now.

They'll have Pokka the rest of the season, but with Forsling they have to use him at the start of the season or not at all. Pokka will get multiple looks throughout the season and will be the first call up with an injury.
I agree Gus is NHL ready, but I guess the philosophy is to load up on young D.
There are also a pile of young pro vets that have legit chances of making the team up front: Hinostroza, McNeill, Kero, Lundberg, and even Baun.
Rockford will be a revolving door.

I'd prefer Rozsival going on the LTIR after running into the zamboni which would open up some more options, but coach Q has a bit of a man crush.
