Georgiev is not an upgrade to Hogberg. Ottawa also has Gustavsson, Daccord, Mandolese and Sogaard in the system (first three are signed and need to play in a pro league next season). No need to overpay for something they already have an abundance of.

Georgiev isnt even worth a 2nd + a decent prospect in general.

Ive seen him play and his potential as a starter isnt an upgrade over Hogberg IMO. The Sens also have 4 other goalie prospects in their system which is why it doesnt make sense to give up that much for Georgiev.

Cam Talbot had better stats (36GP - 2.21gaa - .926%) in his final year with NYR (21GP - 1.64gaa - .941% the previous season) before being traded and fetch a 2nd, and 3rd. I dont think NYR isnt going to get that for Georgiev. Not to mention theyre somewhat hancuffed with Lundqvists contract as well as would need to leave Georgiev exposed in the expansion draft if he isnt dealt.

Hogberg is nothing more than a backup

Comparable stats to Georgiev on a worse team. But okay lol.

Regardless of Hogbergs potential, it doesn’t affect Georgievs value the slightest.
