Keslers cap will not count against the Ducks upper limit this season or next unless he is deemed fit to play (which is pretty much impossible at this point)
The Ducks could go out and sign someone at a 6M AAV if they wanted and not need to trade any cap to make it fit. Keslers would move to the LTIR and essentially negate it. It doesnt actually remove it and he still gets paid but it wouldnt count against the upper limit should the Ducks exceed that</div></div>

Go make a ducks ACGM and put Kesler on the LTIR, his cap hit is essentially removed. It really isnt that hard to understand and look at past examples for proof (Clarkson, Horton, Robidas, etc)
Read past the first two lines of that page. Im not saying Keslers cap hit might be essentially ignored I am flat out telling you with 100% certainty if he is placed on the LTIR his cap hit doesnt affect the Ducks and they will have cap space.
The cap space isnt accounted for until it is needed, which is why it isnt appearing as of now, because they havent exceeded the upper limit, once they do Keslers cap hit will be removed

Is that link supposed to be an example of Kesler being on LTIR and his cap hit not counting... because it still does. lol.
I don't think you understand how it actually works, but that's okay.
There's a reason why Ottawa took on Gaborik and Callahan's contracts. Its because once placed on LTIR ,their cap hits still count, yet they only have to pay a fraction of the salary with insurance paying the rest. Thats how they got the the league lower limit of $60.2M and actually spending only somewhere around $45M.
Teams like Toronto utilized LTIR contracts like because its gave them flexibility and allowed them to exceed the upper limit of $81.5M because of accruable cap space. Heres an explanation of what Toronto did last year by Frank Seravalli...
"But the Leafs actual full-season cap hits still amounted to north of $95 million, well above the $81.5 million cap.
A big reason why the Maple Leafs were able to remain cap compliant was the long-term injury flexibility provided by Horton’s ($5.3 million) and Clarkson’s ($5.25 million) cap hits.
By inching as close to the $81.5 million cap as possible, the Leafs were then allowed to exceed the cap by an amount equal to the nearly the full combined $10.55 million cap hits of those two long-injured players."

Ducks Clear the Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>You realize if he gets put on LTIR, it doesnt count against the cap right? If he on the regular IR it counts against the cap, but not LTIR With Insurance he's owed around 2-2.5 a year in actual cash if the minimum is insured
The Ducks have upwards of 7M in cap space once he gets put on the LTIR with 21/23 roster spots filled. They can slot Stolarz in at back up G at a cap hit of 750K and then they only have one roster spot open, which they can call up Max Comtois to fill at a cap hit of 820k. Do your research before you claim things that are outright false</div></div>
You should go to the CBA drop down menu and click on LTIR FAQ.
"When a player is placed on LTIR, their cap hit remains on the teams cap payroll and it continues to count as it always did. It also does not provide the club with additional cap-space savings that can be banked for future use while the team operates above the salary cap. Instead, LTIR provides relief if the club's averaged club salary, or payroll, begins to exceed the upper limit."
Furthermore, if you go to Anaheim's page, Capfriendly already has Kesler on LTIR and look at their current project cap space.... $470,001. But you do you man.

You basically have Ottawa paying a 2nd round pick to take on two bad contracts and a pending UFA... keep off the sauce next time you make a trade proposal.

Ducks Clear the Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>You’ve skipped over the part where the Ducks don’t need to clear cap
Keslers deal is insured and on LTIR, Gudbranson is worth every bit of 4M with how well he played for us and our lack of NHL RHD, and backes can be a 4th liner for us as he’s only getting paid around 2.2M in real cash</div></div>
You're aware that even though Kesler is on LTIR, is cap hit still counts againt Ducks total. Insurance just pays most of the salary. Ducks have roughly $500k in projected cap space for next season. Id say they need to clear a bit.
As a Sens fan, thats a hard pass anyways, Unloading 3 contracts for a single late 1st rounder plus we give back a decent D prospect. No thanks.

Ferland and whether Ott wants the LTIR is the only question I don't know about.
Your rankings of value is wrong and doesn't concern me.</div></div>
- Least season in the AHL... Gadjovich 38GP - 13G - 0.44PPG vs Abramov 51GP - 18G - 0.80PPG. Much better progression in 2nd pro season for Abramov than Gadjovich.
- Virtanen has 5 pro seasons under his his belt, never passed 20 goals or 40 pts in a season, was just called out for his play by both Coach and GM, was healthy scratch at times, has a QO of $1.4M and has Arbitrations rights. Also pretty common knowledge hes a party guy.
Even if you think Ottawa is getting the better return in deal of Abramov + 3rd for Virtanen + Gadjovich, it's nowhere big enough of an upgrade/return to take on two cap dump contracts.
Your overvaluing of Virtanen and unawareness of what it costs teams to dump contracts DOES concern me.

Contenders
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buchiegang</b></div><div>I wouldn’t say he’s better if anything they are equal, and Strome had the better year hence slightly better value.
No. Smith is still a serviceable defenseman who’s real cash cap hit is next to nothing (~1.75 mil I think because of signing bonus) making him a very attractive asset to Ottawa (see Namestnikov this year). Sens also need a goalie and Georgiev would be a perfect age: 1A potential, likely cheap contract, still very young. Plus they have a plethora of 2nd’s (this one being the latest).
To dump Smith it would probably be something like a 3rd + Smith = a 5th.
Georgiev + Smith = a late late 2nd is more then fair</div></div>
Sens dont "NEED" a goalie. Nilsson/Hogberg tandem is more than capable. Georgiev is not an upgrade to the Sens current goalie prospect pool. Id put him on the same level as Hogberg. Then they have Daccord, Gustavsson and Madolese in the AHL and Sogaard in junior.
Smith only logged an average of 11min per game and his possession stats are ugly. 3rd pairing guy. Sens have Chabot, Brannstrom, Wolanin, Reilly and Lajoie all on the left side already.
A late 2nd for Georgiev straight up is probably, but as soon as you add Smith's contract, that return plummets. Sorry, pass.

Well, I can see some interest. Sens are still paying about $615k of Gaboriks salary. Boychuck would only be $1.25M in real money this season for a $6M cap hit.
Bellows did have 2 goals (3pts) in 8 games with the Isles and 22 goals in 52 games in the AHL, thats not insignificant.
I dont like the pick swap either, but I do think this offer has enough to it to warrant a counter.

Yeah your'e off.
You want OTT to take on two bad contracts by including Virtanen and Gadjovich, yet we'd have to give up Abramov and a 3rd... which is essentially a wash. So Ottawa would be taking these contracts on for free more or less.

Thats a lowball offer for the 33rd overall pick. You want to move up 69 spots from 102nd to 33rd for a 3rd and a 4th? Never happening.
Ottawa already has pick quantity in the first 95 selections. If anything they'd want to package some of them to move up, not do the opposite.

Edmonton Cap Relief benefits the Senators
Edmonton cant afford to Qualify AA, so there's no need to put him in the deal.
Ottawa could probably move up from to 15th by just offering the 28th, a 2020 2nd rounder and decent prospect in Chlapik. Adding Russell's contract into the deal would make it a massive overpayment for Ottawa.
Edmonton sending Russell and the 15th to Ottawa for the 28th and maybe a late 3rd or a 4th seems more in line with what recent salary dumps have cost.

He’ll put up monster points on a line with Matthews and Marner. And he takes a cheap deal to try and win. I know he’s already done this, but this time, at least he can get paid big time the next offseason. If he plays on that first line, you’re looking at a 40-50 point season at least. Then you could talk $5M-$6M</div></div>
HERES WHY HE WONT. . He took a cheap deal to try and win last year and be paid big time the following season. He already played on that 1st line and already put up both a 40 and a 50 pts season. He has arbitration rights this year. If he took another 1 year deal and suffered a significant injury he's ****ed himself. So we are already in the $4m-$6m range part of your plan. Sorry.

Your bottom 6 combined for 49 goals total last season. Thats 0.59 goals per game from your bottom two lines. No depth, no speed, no grit and 3 of them are pushing 40. Labanc has never scored 20 and Roberston is a rookie, not guaranteed to make the team.
This lineup seems like a downgrade from what they had last season.
