Isnt that how the NHL works? You trade a 6th rounder for a guy you want to use on the 1st line.

AJ isn't worth anything with that contract. Easily interchangeable with a UFA or any other cap dump. If anything this is the Oilers doing the Leafs a favor.

3.4M a year for a 40 point guy? Since when is that a bad contract lmao. If the leafs can make him fit/afford him, I wouldn't even think of trading him
