pass from the leafs.

rather sign a cheaper 4C/low end 3C than give up a 2nd to do so.

Taking on a 35-year-old goalie coming off a .905 season (with an entire career of mostly mediocre play) for a 7million dollar cap hit in a flat cap era. Hahahahahahahahaa

Bjugstad, Johnson, 3rd, 5th for Fleury

Penguins decline.

The Penguin do not need or want a goalie, but would possibly bring Fleury in as a PR move... but not at $7M, not even at $3.5M (50% retention in a trade). There are rumors that Vegas might buy out Fleury. If that happens the Pens might offer him a low $ contract for the fans. But even at $3.5M they are not giving FC's for him.

Well, the guy is 5th all time in wins, and likely by the end of next season will be 3rd all time.

and when it comes too carer save% for goalies with 500+ games he is 15th ALL TIME.
(Ahead of Patrick Roy and Marty Broduer by the way)

But yeah.....that's a MEDIOCRE career!

I said he played medicare hockey. Didn't say his career was mediocre. Most goalies don't last this long and are given this much opportunity.

He started young, mostly stayed healthy and rarely had any competition. He also played on some of the best teams of his era.

Accounting for the type of shots he was facing, he was above average for one season in Pittsburgh. He did have one elite season in Vegas though, so I guess that is probably skewing how you view him.

Most overrated player of this era.
