Created by: UncleRay
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 6, 2020
Published: Sep. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
$8M cap remaining. Could choose a top 4 LD or a top 6 RW/LW. What should the Bruins do? P.s. I’m pretty sure Lauzon in a left shot and can play LD. Need someone not named Chara to play with McAvoy.

It’s an option but the Bs need to develop some talent in the NHL. Krug and Grze on the same tram doesn’t make sense. If we sign Krug then Grze becomes a trade asset. Love him but we need some size with the speed on LD.

Play Grzelcyk with McAvoy. Lauzon on the third pair and he can play RD as well so him/Clifton will rotate with Chara on LD3. If Krug re-signs, he stays with Carlo, if not, we'll see.

More likely Studnicka takes the RW3 spot over Senyshyn. Wagner on LTIR for?

He has a heart problem. Potentially fixable via surgery but that was the word on his “unfit to play”

Yes, but he was out for a game only. He also said he doesn't believe it will have a long-term effect. He has at least three months to recover; think he'll be fine.

Still not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Minimal hit.

Lauzon can play and has played right side. Think Sweeney goes n gets a LHD vet for couple a years. This year the Bs finally need to see what they have in Zboril/Vaakanainen. Or maybe Sweeney does go with Grzelcyk/Lauzon/Chara/Zboril/Moore on the left side.

Vaakanainan is in the Bruins plans. He was in their plans last year.

There is potential for a great defense core there already. If Vaakanianan is a true stud #1 and they have him, McAvoy and Carlo under control for the next 5 or so years. Especially because Lauzon and Clifton have proven to be legit NHL Dmen. Zboril looks about ready too.

I don't think the Bruins should bring Chara back. I was kind of hoping they could sign him for league minimum heading into playoffs as 7/8th dman, but I assume he doesn't want that. I want to see what the Bruins have, and I don't think you can win with Chara getting 20M+ a night. 12-14 tops, but I'd rather give it to Lauzon and see what he turns into.

I'd like to see the Bruins improve on their left side d. How much they replace all depends on where Vaakanianan is in his development.

I feel like the break and delay in season(s) is going to have an interesting effects on the younger guys. The ones who were able to participate in the bubble are going to be way ahead of others. I can only assume Studnicka will be miles ahead of Beecher who probably wasn't able to skate/train the same.

He did months ago but lately it has been “I have a window to get paid. Going to get paid”. Assuming this is because his agent has spoken with Sweeney and the numbers aren’t there

It’s hard with Vaak because we’ve seen limited ice time. Thought he was ready and played well when he did come up but the LD was blocked.

Concur with Chara. 12-14 if they do sign him. I think they need to move on though. Have to see what we have. The window is closing, but I still feel that not scoring against Tampa is the inevitable challenge every year so rather go UFA and get an upgrade on the second line. And maybe no the RW

I refer you to this article that bf3351 sent me:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/boston.cbslocal.com/2020/09/03/free-agent-torey-krug-opposed-to-short-term-contract-this-is-my-time/amp/

He was TRYING to prove that Krug didnt wanna stay for less money, but if you read the article it clearly states that we would rather take a little less money to play somewhere that he is "comfortable" playing rather than being uncomfortable elsewhere

Again: research helps

Good article but being close to the situation, it’s not going to happen. bs won’t pay him more than Pasta. Krug will get a 7-8M offer in free agency.

What do you think a small discount will be in his mind? $6M for 6? I just don’t see it.

I guess that’s why this is arm-chair GM. Lol.

I guess we can sign and trade Grze if Krug miraculously signs with the Bs

"being close to the situation" what does that mean? lol ... Krug will get 8+ to not be with the Bruins, but will get 6.75-7.25 to be with the bruins. That is where we stand right now.

Small discount is about 1 million less (bringing it down from 8 mil to 7 mil to stay with boston)

No need to Trade Griz if we sign Krug, because we can fit both. I have made Numerous ACGMs showing that.

No problem for the bruins here! Signing Krug for 7 mil and Keeping Griz!
