Trade instead of offersheet
I guess people don’t realize how good these players are.
Grze is a solid 2nd pairing D and 2nd round picks to sweeten that is pretty safe considering the alternative of offersheets (1st and a 3rd only).
Kase and Bjork are solid 3rd liners and both have them have 2nd line potential on the right team. Think Reilly Smith and Vatrano. Moore is a solid D considering Detroit has almost no LD after this coming season. Sweetened with 2 more picks to help with the rebuild. Not high ones, but close enough. I’d prefer Mantha for his size and goal, but Bertuzzi is another option instead. For him, what is offered is huge overpay. He and Kase are pretty darn close to even swap.
Sergachev will sign a bridge deal if structured the right way. Just like McAvoy and Carlo did, and Debrusk will do. This is why the trade va offersheet because you’ll need to pay a lot more and we want the salary for other things.
Again, offersheet could work as well. Someone will get Sergachev or Cirreli. Force TBL on one and the other becomes target #2. This is just more gentlemanly to give them a good trade and save some picks and salary.
How would you get those 3 players? Easy to sit back and poke holes but would love to see your options!!

I’m pretty sure they only have 1/3rd of the team under contract. Moore can play. Ritchie can be a 4th liner and protect Eichel. It’s not really that much of a dump. Maybe another team if Buf doesn’t want it.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>Take far more then $6 million for Mikhail Sergachev to sign an offer sheet with Boston, Try more like $8 million and then he probably still declines.</div></div>
He’in fir a pay fat but even beat writers in Tampa say he does a bridge deal around $5.5-6M. If you structure it right, his qualifying offer becomes that $7-8M so in 3yrs, he gets the 8x8 deal when hopefully teams have money.

Gotcha. Then definitely going to be a 3yr contract for him around $3-3.5

I think they would get something back for Rask as G but agree. Not going to get a vezina winning goalie and that was a big problem in the playoffs this year. Halak was semi hurt and definitely not ready to play. Maybe if the season kept going Halak could have kept the wheels on the bus but not this way.
Sweeney won GM of the year. He’s got his issues but he’s pretty darn good overall.
He did have to clean up a mess that PC left him. Look what PC did in EDM. they have 2 studs and can’t even make playoffs. You may consider them #1 and #2 in the NHL.
Edmonton should trade McDavid to the Bs just in the name of making hockey interesting again. Retain $2M, take Debrusk, Studnicka, and McAvoy and call it a day.
McDavid wants to play in Boston anyway.

Trading up for Lafreniere
Wow. I mean wow. I know I get beat up for my armchairs but wow.
I think the Bs can do better than a fire sale. Presidents cup winners. They don’t need to do a fire sale just yet.
Debrusk can go yes. McAvoy no way. Prefer him over Pet all day, every day.
Bs have never paid anyone over $7.25. Why would they now, when the parent company is cash strapped. You set a precidence for Pasta.
Just don’t see it happening. Would love lafreniere but not selling the farm. What do you do when all those UFAs come and you have absolutely nothing in the tank.
Maybe I’m wrong. There are a lot of picks coming back if this can happen but it’s 3 blockbuster trades. Even dealin Donnie can’t pull that off and if he does, he probably messed up.

It’s also future. Sergachev is definitely going to be better than Grze Long term and cost way more. Tampa doesn’t need 2 #1 LDs. Maybe they get a better deal elsewhere but the rumors are Sergey is moving for that reason I just said.
We can hope. Maybe you have to sweeten the Grze package a little but I’m not going much further than maybe Zboril. Maybe a Clifton if they really push or a 3rd

If it’s Sergachev and they can get a 1st, a prospect, and Brett Kulak type to eat some minutes cheap, as opposed to a lesser d man that will cost almost as much Sergachev on a bridge deal. Math.
I am, thanks.</div></div>
All the talk is Sergachev getting $5M AAV on a bridge. Grze will be closer to $3M, and he’s one of the best skating and puck moving Ds around. Arguably better than McAvoy right now in those regards. Yah, he’s a bit small and he’s NOT McAvoy, but for Tampa. It makes good sense.

Grze gets a bridge deal for much less. $2.8 is twice his qualifying offer. I’d expect 2.8-3.5M for 3yrs.

Options, as in if they decide to move HIM there will be teams lined up to give them a 1st and a mediocre cheap d man to replace him.</div></div>
You’re right Montreal is going to offer a 1st for everyone on the market and get everyone.

It’s not like they are losing much in that deal. Grze can run the PP, amazing skater and puck mover, and will cost half of what Sergey does. I’d say it’s pretty much exactly what Tampa needs right now. Hedman is #1 and Sergey will never take that over. Grze knows his place and will replace Shatty when they let him walk.

Moore is a cap dump to Arizona and Vaakanainen+2nd isn't enough to get $14 million retention on Oliver Ekman-Larsson not even close.</div></div>
Guess you didn’t read the notes. Exactly what I said about AA. No compensation required at that rate so I can make the UFA signing as if it were an offer sheet.
Grze is a 2nd pair, man the power play, and cost friendly. Sergachev is never going to play #1 D with Hedman in front of him. He doesn’t have arbitration rights so a bridge deal will get him signed. Maybe the term goes to 3yrs.
AZ needs to shed salary and they basically shed $4M for 3 years and the. $6M in the fine 4 years of his contract. Exactly what AZ would want.

He was TRYING to prove that Krug didnt wanna stay for less money, but if you read the article it clearly states that we would rather take a little less money to play somewhere that he is "comfortable" playing rather than being uncomfortable elsewhere
Again: research helps</div></div>
Good article but being close to the situation, it’s not going to happen. bs won’t pay him more than Pasta. Krug will get a 7-8M offer in free agency.
What do you think a small discount will be in his mind? $6M for 6? I just don’t see it.
