Dont understand , that's alot for Danault, h es a 3rd line center, just because he plays a 2c in Montreal doesnt make him one. I compare him to Fast, with added bonus of being a centre man. 3+ mil per is " waay" too much for most NY fans to keep Fast around.( not me see Fast as very important)
What will Danault want in his next contract 5mil +???
Donr get me wrong, very much like Phillip and his game. But love him as my 3rd line center, with wingers of similar style ( Fast) to have a true shut down line. Not unlike that across town with Trotz. Clutterbuck/Cizikis/Martin. But 1st round plus, plus for a 3rd line center, where NYR is in rebuild, seems unnecessary. He will want 5+ mil per just to stay after next year.
Danault will be of greater value to a team "going for it" this year. As he only makes little over 3 mil. Next year he if he receives 5 mil per , possibly, becomes a financial anchor if wrong team overpays him.
For one year at 3 mil. Love him.
5 years 5 mil + per. Plus a 1st and 2 prospects.... no thx.
