What exactly did Wagner, Kuraly and Kase bring us to help us advance to the SCF this year? Nothing that's what. Load up on the top-end with Hall and Toffoli and play kids. Nothing wrong with Bjork/Coyle/Studnicka anyway. Hell, nothing wrong with me/Coyle/you!
We are all well aware that the B’s middle 6 wings outside of Debrusk contributed nothing all year and need an upgrade. Plenty of ways to accomplish that. This is not it. This is a mess. If i have to explain the importance of the roles Kuraly and Wagner play to you than this is pointless.
There are only 4 impact wings available via free agency and 20+ teams will be vying for them. The odds of one team landing 2 of them are slim.
Studnicka and Kase (if healthy, big if) in the lineup all year would already be a significant improvement offensively over what they got from all they tried at middle 6 wing other than Debrusk. Bjork needs to step up production or be sat.
They definitely need to add one if not 2 of those impact wings and then move some of the extra pieces for a LD. Or add 1 wing and and a LD via FA.
Hall is the primary target. But many teams will be in on him, teams in better shape cap wise. I can see the bidding get up over 8m per. If that happens i doubt it’s Boston. Toffoli would be a great add, wanted him at deadline. But Nucks want him back and it sounds like he wants to stay there.
Hoffman seems like the most realistic option and then adding a mid level cost d man like Edmundson or Dillon.
They could add one of the big name forwards via FA. Trade Debrusk for d man and add another of the top wings via FA, or Kase/Ritche for a d man and add another middle 6 wing option like Haula.
They need to find a taker for Moore which won’t be easy.
The one thing they can’t do....is nothing. But they know that.
I’m pretty sure we’d all love to see Hall and Toffoli/Hoffman/Dadonov signed. Debrusk/Kase/Zboril trade for Hanifin or Nurse/Pujuljarvi. Moore/Ritche/Bjork moved for picks to free cap space. We also know it’s highly unlikely to happen.
