Move Ritchie and Moore, etc.? No way man! Someone will lose their favourite freaking binky! More of the same is just what the doctor ordered!
Maybe I should have actually named the team "Team Irony".

I agree, no Jake on RW.
Also, Chara's not first pairing anymore, needs to be on the 3rd.
So with that, you don't think Boston needs to upgrade the LD?
Otherwise I'm good - want Hall but I'd also buyout Ritchie.
You also only have a 20-man roster. Not going to meet the cap with 23.

We'll see how good they are together against big tough teams in the playoffs next year. You need size. That's my view anyway.
If only Carlo were a LD, sigh.

I'm not Sweeney, I'm just playing around. I don't have to make it work to the penny.
I also don't know what Hall's actually going to cost. $8m. $9m, $7.75m?
I just think you can add a couple of significant pieces, keep the "core" and the future core, and get rid of the deadweight without making massive changes.
As I said, it's close.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>apparently they are considering it and if u think about it, it makes sense. If Krug goes Boston could trade Debrusk to calgary and bring Hanafin back as he is young and on a pretty good deal. As for Carlo, with his value very high rn and with players like Charlie McAvoy, Jeremy Lauzon and Connor Clifton all capable of playing RD, Boston according to Friedman and the Athletic are apparently interested in hearing offers for him.
This is where I think something between the leafs and Bruins could come into play. Leafs have a 2020 1st in the top 15. They plan on trading it for a top 4 RHD, Carlo fits that bill very well. So Dubas could make a deal (ex: Liligren + SDA or Abramov or Abruzze + 2020 1st pick pittsburgh, etc) for him. Boston can then use the pick to draft a young forward or defenseman which they can use in a few years.
Besides even if krug leaves and Carlo gets traded. If Hanafin was to be acquired we could see
Hanafin-Mcavoy
Grzelcyk-Clifton
Chara or some prospect-Lauzon</div></div>
Yeah I know about Fluto with the Athletic, and about Friedman too. Friedman also thinks they're interested in OEL. The point is that yes, they need to upgrade LD, so they're obviously thinking about it and so people are speculating and, I guess, hearing things.
.
I don't like Gryz/Clifton on 2nd pairing at all - 5'9 & 5'11 (but at least Clifton hits). Would much rather have Lauzon/Carlo there the year after. So trading Carlo to upgrade LD still leaves your RD wanting imo (after Mac of course).
I'll let someone else say "Boston's not trading with TO - especially Carlo"!

Yup, certainly going to be interesting. Moving Carlo would be a mistake, I think. Then we have to upgrade both LD and RD. DeBrusk I could see as we may not be able to afford him. We have a lot of space, like a lot. But we can't sign everyone and upgrade 2nd line wing and top-pairing LD all at the same time. Well maybe we could, but Don's going to have to be a lot more creative than me!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>Cehlarik is done in Boston; he signed in Europe.
Don't need Sherman. Not enough $$ for Grzelcyk if it's a three year deal. Bjork doesn't fit on the 4th line. Krejci doesn't play on the PK.
You're over the cap while overpaying Dillon. Just bury Ritchie in the minors.</div></div>
Cehlarik is in Providence, as is Sherman. I'm just filling out roster spots man, not building the team around them.
I'm $1.6m over the cap (as I said, the overage is spread over two years. The site just has it at $1.92m, but it would really be $964k)
Ritchie costs $423k in the minors. It's cheaper to buy him out (167 this year and 333 next year, or something)
And if I'm overpaying Dillon then good - pay him less and I'm over the cap by 500k.
We need 2 upgrades - wing for Krjeci (LW since we have Kase) and LD. Gryz with Mac on the top-pairing isn't going to cut it.
So there's Hall and Dillon. Sure, Dillon may not be a #1 but better him than Gryz with Mac. Big and can hit. SJ fans say his skating improved and he pairs well with a good skater and when he doesn't have to carry the pairing. Sounds like he'd fit well with Mac to me.
The point is it's pretty close, with both Gryz and DeBrusk. And two upgrades. Yes I'm over the cap with Gryz, but it's pretty close.

The point is this: Sure, Kase "looked good" against Carolina but didn't score. Was useless against Tampa.
Toffoli's just on a one-year deal just because I clicked sign and wasn't worried about term. We can sign him for 5 years. You know how much money's coming off the cap next year?
Cehlárik's there to make a 40-man roster.
I like our 4th line fine, but they're a 4th line. Need to sacrifice to upgrade. If everybody had their way it'll be the exact same roster coming back next year minus Ritchie. That's not good enough. Plus it'll be Gryz and Moore and Chara on the left-side. Good luck with that.
And I wasn't worried about signing Debrusk and Gryz and trading them (or anyone else), I was just trying to make it fit within the cap. It's close but no cigar. But people can be traded for picks for the eventual rebuild.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Simple. Don’t resign Chara. Overpaid for Dillon.
But then there is the matter of Debrusk and Grizz who you did not resign. Plus getting rid of Wagner, Kuraly, Kase is not a good idea.</div></div>
What exactly did Wagner, Kuraly and Kase bring us to help us advance to the SCF this year? Nothing that's what. Load up on the top-end with Hall and Toffoli and play kids. Nothing wrong with Bjork/Coyle/Studnicka anyway. Hell, nothing wrong with me/Coyle/you!

Yeah we can obviously get something for Kase (and others), I just didn't want to deal with it. My idea is to clear the useless, offensively challenged, bottom-six and replace them with kids (not that Kase is useless, but he had 0 goals in the playoffs from #2 RW).
As for Chara/Dillon: If Chara wants to come back, for cheap, and for 3rd-pairing minutes then fine. Doesn't matter anyway for $1m as the kids are still going to cost $925k regardless..
And if Dillon is cheaper than $5m then more for Hall! I know he isn't a #1 but Mac is. And Dillon as our #1 LD sounds a lot better than either Chara or Gryz there.
Edit: Oh yeah, Debrusk. Casualty of Hall! But if not Hall, then DeBrusk and Toffoli. Have to do something.
