You can’t trade spare parts to get quality
Like the Jets giving Copp Poolman and a 2055 1st round pick for RNH ( extended )

absolutely, the term and cap hit of the contract dictates the future value... in 3-4 years, that contract has the opportunity to look like Marchand, or Mackinnon (not comparing skill, comparing production to cost)

That Ehlers trade is very tough for oilers. Let’s pretend jets accepted it which is questionable. You sent out most pending ufas which are important for cap relief to resign nuge and yam and while MIGHT be able to work around extensions for next offseason you’ll be completely strapped the following offseason with nurse bouch both certainly in for raises along with a few others. With a flat cap any moves now need to have the next 3 years in mind more than ever. To bring in term I think it’s incredibly important to move out term.

Tough ? Just let Nurse walk that’s it. Klefbom Broberg Jones Samorukov etc are all LHD

Bouchard won't play a lot, more importantly they need to make sure they don't expose anyone in the seattle draft that they can;t afford to protect.

From a cap perspective I’d rather the deal be built around nurse for ehlers which I think would be more fitting for jets too and should keep our first out of play as well.

Bouch is exempt from expansion which is handy but his skill set can very easily hit the ground running and compete with bear for more significant minutes which need to be prepared to pay for. Can shelter him to start but I can’t foresee that lasting long with this kid.
