I see the Minny fans trying to get in on this action by trading the same two guys over and over again. Sorry but Brodin and Zucker are good players but not good enough for the returns you keep trying to get for them.

The difference is people who are not fans of the Edmonton Oilers or Winnipeg Jets would agree with what i said. No bias coming from someone with no horse in this race.

The people who are not Edmonton or Winnipeg fans can also see that both of these teams are loaded with talent and continue to lose...

RNH is a nice player, but if he was the 27th pick in the draft instead of the 1st, no one would balk at Brodin and Zucker as return for him. It's all about perspective.

Also, I see a lot of guys give up the farm for Trouba around here then sign him to a 6 year deal for $5ish million per. If he merits such an immense return, he would then also merit Subban money.

Aside from the truly bad contracts out there (usually strapped to old players) and players still on their entry level deals, you can pretty much figure out equal value in a trade by the players' salaries. It really is (almost) that simple.

So trading away talented young players for equally inferior players is somehow going to make them better?

If Nuge wasn't the first overall pick and was chosen 27th, he would of been one of the biggest steals of the draft apart from Gaudreau. None the less, you want him because he's got number 1 center potential. People looking to add top 6 scoring and top 2 defence, don't have Zucker and Brodin come to mind first. If Brodin wasn't a 1st round pick, he wouldn't be so highly regarded. Zucker is a solid top 9 player but scoring 20+ goals once doesn't make you a top 6 player. If so get ready to give Zack Smith the same love.

I've seen all three players play. I would take all three on my team any day. But Nuge is by far the most valuable player. That's why you would want him. (In this trade scenario)

Bob Mackenzie had Brodin on his Calder list after his rookie year.. He has scored on a 19 point pace every season except for last year and now people think he's some scrub. I would take Brodin over Trouba every time, the only reason I would trade him is because HE DOES have a lot of value and CAN bring in a young high caliber center. Do you forget that teams were calling about him last trade deadline...?

Come on, so what he played great as an 18 year old dman. Way ahead of what people thought he could of. But since then hasn't improved all that much. Averaging 19 pts for a top 4 dman is not something to brag about.

Anyways goldy, I'm not saying he isn't good. On the contrary. I already said i would take him on my team any day. That's not the question here. All I'm saying is he is widely overrated by Minny fans. Trouba is farther ahead then Brodin and it isn't even that close. One guy has impact player potential. The other is a solid top 4 at best.
