Still dont understand why STL traded for Faulk

Created by: DaBus
Team: 2020-21 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 10, 2020
Published: Sep. 11, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Blues already had Pietrangelo, Parayko and Bortuzzo on the right side, no need to give up good assets like Bokk. If they wanted to resign Pietrangelo they could have used the Faulk extension money.

yeah I don't either I hated it before it even happened. I wouldn't want Klef tho. I like Dunn he's solid has some very good stats to back it up.

I'm not a Blues fan but a lot of your fans seem to think he's bad defensively that why I moved him

He's very solid, they don't know that he had a great year, but every year. Blues fans have someone to blame. Few years ago it was Jake Allen, 2 years ago it was Jay Bouwmeester, last year it was Alex Pietrangelo, this year it's Vince Dunn.

Apparently they are not and have not been close on money yet with Petro. I almost wonder if Doug’s past troubles with that agency made him question whether or not it could be done at the number the Blues were comfortable with. Hence grabbing Faulk when he was available instead of waiting to lose Petro before acting

Dunn definitely doesn’t get the credit he deserves. If Perunovich comes up next year I’d love to see them mash some styles

Dunn-Parayko
Scandella-Faulk
Perunovich-Bortz

I really like the way Boston paired Krug and Carlo, allowing Krug to shine offensively

Yea, I didn't understand then and certainly not now. If nothing else, the Blues and most NHL teams thought the cap would be 86m in 2020/21

But what I really don't understand is why Anaheim would make that trade you suggest. There are a lot better ways to spend 6.5m than on Faulk. And expect Ducks to give up picks too. shakes head Kesler has absolutely no meaning in a trade.

Kesler was included to take salary off the books for the ANA owners

Why does he hurt being on Anaheims books. Wouldn't he have just as much meaning on St Louis books?

Simply included for the owners check book. ANA would likely want to move someone out taking Faulks hit and thats where Kesler comes into play

So how does Kesler affect the owners cheque book?

It allows ANA to get some salary off their books. Look at the Anisimov for Smith deal with the Hawks last year. OTT had enough cap room but the Hawks still took Smith to get some salary off Melnyk's cheque book. Same thing here

I'm talking about salary not LTIR. He is due 13 million in actual money the next two years. That 13 million will now get put into the Faulk trade, although he is signed longer. Helps them out salary wise. If you're the Ducks owner do you keep Kesler and put him on LTIR so you have to pay his 13 million in actual money along with Faulk's money or include him so you're only paying Faulk's money.

Why do the Ducks owner or virtually any owner pay all this LTIR money? A great percentage of money is covered by insurance.
