Still short 3 roster players, Is Killorn and Paquette injured long-term?

I do like the trade it does seem very feasible

Killorn and Paquette traded for below market value. Why 3 short? You can roll a 20 man roster. The upper limit is 23.

It can be done. The 4th line above could be anyone. This team is still a playoff team but depth and injury coverage isn't there. Coburn retires if they win the cup. They move one of the NTCs keep Cernak and they're a much better team. I can honestly see Johnson waiving in order to prove he can still play. Being a third line forward on this team is one thing. being a depth call up is another. If he doesn't waive now his time in the nhl is gonna dwindle.

I don't really see any incentive for any of those players to waive - they signed those deals for the tax shelter TB is and the fact the have a winning team - no Johnson has nothing to prove he proved it you signed him

That's bull. He earned the contract he signed for sure. But he needs to earn a place in the lineup every season. And the depth he's slowly getting stuck behind in Tampa is getting better and better.

The reality is all those players have 100% control if they stay or go - why would they leave Tampa?

Yeah. Not an NMC. Johnson is the one I see waiving. Gourde has a young family in Tampa and has more motivations to not move. Palat is still getting the top minutes. Johnson's M-NTC kicks in next season anyway so he has to give them a list next year anyway. His value is higher now than it will be next year if he doesn't get the minutes. So the chances of him getting and holding an nhl job come into his motivations to waive.

No he doesn't have to waive. He can tell Tampa to shove it. But they can put him on the bus in Syracuse, he can get pickup on waivers by Ottawa.

No one's picking up that tab off waivers bud - especially Ottawa

There are plenty of teams that would. Columbus would take him for free 100% but they fact of the matter is once he's on waivers he has no control. I doubt it comes to that. He waives his NTC and has a say in where he goes for sure.
