You also have to protect him in the expansion draft unless he waives his M-NTC, NMC. They won't trade EJ, the organization loves that guy. It's an interesting idea, but I think we need a player like EJ more than we need Letang.

pens say absolutely no.... you probably would need to add at least this years first

2020 1st + EJ = letang (and this still favors the avs)
2021 1st= murray (with murray and letang you are winning the cup so the 31st pick is just right for murr)

The point is, he's been injured a lot and hasn't played well since that time. No reason to spend a ton of resources on a guy that may or may not return to form. And in sports, 3 years is a looooooong time to be on a downward trend.
