Exploring Kulak trade - NJD

Description
Kulak seems the odd man out.

Edmundson' signing is showing a lack of trust in Kulak and with Romanov coming (praised by MTL organization), there's no room for him unless one of the three switch to RD. Even then, he could be lost to Seattle. Kulak still had great playoffs and wasn't getting carried by Petry on the 2nd pair.

Consistancy might be an issue (according to Bergevin), but he could fill top 4 role when needed and with a 3rd pair salary, it's totally worth a try.

Mete could also be the odd man out, but a bridge deal could settle his true self. He's younger than Kulak, make sense to give more time. KK would be really sad to see him leave too.

NJD could try him on a 2nd pair and if it doesnt work out, they need depth at LD anyway. Great fit IMO

Wood fits MTL style. He's overpaid which doesn't matter this year, but could be a problem next year (Tatar and Armia would have no chance to come back if core players resign)

Retained salary could be an option for Wood and Weal could be added. If anything, NJD adds.

I’d much rather keep Kulak than take on Wood’s salary. We can trade him for a pick next offseason, or he gets chosen by Seattle. Both are preferable to taking on extra salary when we are in an extremely tight spot cap-wise.
