it should be neither, and neither will get traded so you might as well stop fantasizing over it

Pietrangelo gives the lineup more balance and he can play 28-30 hard mins during the playoffs.

Love BillNy, but the Leafs need to transfer some of that top loaded salary to the d-corps.

I wouldn't be willing to trade a 90+ pts a year forward who also kills penalties. Can you imagine how much trading him would haunt the Leafs forever?

Mitch isn't going anywhere.

Why does so much of Leafs Nation think Arizona would exchange two years of Darcy Kuemper for one year of Freddie Andersen? (Never mind adding a young forward on a good contract.)

Have you seen their financial situation? They failed to pay their signing bonuses on time and they still have an outstanding balance owed to ASM Global - which owns and operates their arena.

They also have lost one of their 1st round picks for violating the league's combine rules. They don't have a pick until the 4th round this season.

Andersen carries a very affordable salary of 1M and is a legit starting goalie (the Leafs paid his 4M signing bonus already). He's also arguably better than Kuemper.

There's plenty of reason's to believe the Maple Leafs can work out a deal with ARZ.

I'm closer to their financial situation than you are.

Arizona isn't going to trade two years of a #1 goalie (to them) for one year of a #1 goalie (to them) just to save $2.5 million in cash.

"Arguably" is the operative word in your third paragraph.

Yes, there's plenty of reason to believe that Toronto might work out a deal with Arizona, but the Maple Leafs will be the team adding. For example, take out Crouse and make the 2021 pick the 2020 second and you might have a deal. But I still think that Kuemper is one of the few players on that roster the new Coyotes GM won't be moving.

When you look at the team as a whole it's obvious that it's his salary that hinders the teams ability to be deep
You pay centers that money not 90 point wingers look at stone he is wayyy better defensively and still makes almost 1.5 less

I doubt you're closer to their financial situation than I am.

ARZ may very well trade their #1 goalie to save 2.5M cash. That is a huge win for a team that is struggling to pay signing bonuses and are in arrears with the arena owners. Couple that with financial uncertainty the future holds in a world that is dealing with a pandemic, a shortened schedule, and severely castrated revenue and you have a recipe for trying to find every possible way to save cash.

Andersen is arguably better than Kuemper. I can expand that argument with some key metrics if you like. Even if you think they're pretty comparable, the 2.5M savings would surely be no small savings for a cash strapped team.

Anyway, this is all supposed to be speculative fun -- we're armchair GMs, dude. Relax.

There's no way that Mark Stone is wayyy better defensively than MM - he's better, but let's not get carried away. Stone has also never cracked more than 73pts in a season and has only had one campaign where he was a point-per-game player.

I do agree that Mitch is overpaid by maybe 1-1.5M which creates some cap issues but they're not insurmountable and I think the complaints about him, being a W, making so much is all a bit too much. He's a more complete player and better scorer than Rantanen, who is making 9.25M.

Anyway, the Leafs should be able to fit AP without needing to trade Mitch. Which is what this AGM fantasy tries to show.
