Voracek is one of the most inconsistent players you'll ever see. Why wouldn't you target another NHL RD if you're moving Marner? It's not like the Leafs need York, they have tons of D prospects.

My understanding is kuemper going out is to recoup picks/shed salary

I understand why you'd want Philly to retain on Voracek but when they're taking on a player who makes close to $3M more even if he would be much more productive I don't think there is a shot that they do

I did add a 4th round pick, but also, Anderson's actual cost to Arizona would be $1M, while Kuemper still getting paid his actual salary cap hit / AAV which is $4.5M. This deal is as much about the finances of a reeling franchise vs a deep pocketed franchise. I think it's about what would get it done, maybe the extra year on Kuemper's contract is worth more than a 4th.

I'm thinking that Phillie's roster is ready to take on a super star player and contract, that Voracek contract is the Flyer's most expensive contract and looks a bit (not entirely) onerous in it's final few years. I think Toronto can take it on because the term ends when Matthews and Nylander contracts need to be re-upped AND it actually gives them room to take a shot at Pietrangelo IF he actually becomes available.

You're not getting a 2nd for Johnsson,You'd be lucky to get a 3rd for him. Detroit declines we've better prospects in our pipeline then Johnsson.

Not to shed salary that drops his value , Coyotes might be a bit in a financial funk but Kuemper only makes 3.5M for this upcoming season there gonna ask for multiple higher end assets

I think it's possible that the trade could be worked out but I don't think there is a shot that they retain money on Voracek while taking on that massive Marner Contract also they really don't have the cap space to take on the contract with needing to resign Myers and Patrick this year and Hart and Sanheim next year
