i wold think the rangers traded staal to open up cap space to improve the team now. taking backes contract is counter productive.

Because a 1st, 2nd, and Jacob Larsson are coming back in the deal? The real question is does Anaheim have a need to clear up that cap space or can they afford to carry it for one more year?
