Description
As most educated hockey people know, the Sharks are in a tough spot this offseason. They’re one year removed from the WCF. They’ have a new coaching staff. They’ve had time to get healthy, rested, and refocused in the past 6 months. They’re also a year older with a weak-ish prospect pool.

Since it will be practically impossible for GM Doug Wilson to move any dead weight this offseason (Vlasic & Jones), and he needs to make the most of his expensive core, while revitalizing the pipeline, I tried to look at things for all perspectives. GMDW has the green light from the Sharks’ owner to spend to the cap.

With my contract numbers, I utilized recent reporting on The Athletic (C. Smith wanting 3 years around a similar cap hit. T Greiss looking for a good fit for ~$3m. B. Ryan looking for a competitive fit for ~$1.5m. The Devils looking to add to their young core with a later 1st round pick.)
- I also connected the dots between Dadonov and former Panthers/new Sharks HC Boogie.
- B. Ryan’s close friendship with E. Karlsson from Ottawa.
- T. Greiss and his ties to the Sharks and his friendship with new goalie coach, Nabokov.
- If Thornton & Marleau want one last shot in SJ, they need to take the minimum like Spezza did in TOR. This will allow the team to allocate cap to the top 6 and in net.
- Noesen was a great fit in teal, so I think Kellman’s new deal is a fair base.

This roster I’ve built is much deeper and more balanced than this past season’s. These trades and signings would also give the Sharks 3 picks in the first 34 picks in the upcoming draft to pump up the prospect pool.

I believe these are realistic and fair FA numbers and trade values based off the current speculation from reputable sources and recent signings/trades, while keeping in mind the flat cap and current economic landscape.

I'd rather have LaBanc to Dadanov to be honest.
Not sure who would be available at #20 that would be a significant upgrade over LaBanc.

Keeping LaBanc saves 2M+ vs Dadanov which would give up space to carry a 7D and give Greiss the 3.5M that he's probably gonna get

Yeahhhhhh, the flipside of that though is that Labanc is nowhere near 1st line ready. At this point in his development I would honestly not even really want him on the 2nd line, if I'm being totally honest. That said, I'd keep him over Craig Smith, because you're not wrong - while I'd be very happy to draft, like, Seth Jarvis at 20th overall, I'm not sure that would be worth giving Labanc up for.

Also, Gambrell? Really? Can't we all just agree that he would 'do better with a change of scenery' and move on from him?

This looks good! And good explanation to why you did choose players to sign.
Moving Labanc is a big question mark, he is young and has potential. I don't know if its a good idea to let him go, but I kinda see where u are coming from.
I am behind getting Dadonov (he is one of the most underrated FA this year) Smith is also a smart piece of depth. Ryan is a no brainer for tryout, Sharks need 3rd line RW.
But I think 3rd line needs a rookie or young guy in it. Leonard/Chmelevski/Gregor, some kind of a young stud. Marleau - Thornton - Ryan is not a good line to be honest.

All in all if this would be the Sharks for next year, I would be excited!
