EDM Trade-I know Larsson is a year end UFA but I really think you need acquire another quality defenseman so you're not pairing Chabot with a guy like Zaitsev. He's also only 28 so he can always be signed to an extension and be part of the core if it's a great fit. Would rather this than sign a RHD longterm and block JBD, Thomson. Tierney addresses Oilers 3C needs and Oilers still clear Russell's $4M cap hit with just giving up pick #14 and get back #28 and #52. Think this puts Ottawa in a good draft position #3, #5 and #14 and they get Chabot a solid partner. Oilers clear some cap and address their 3c and pick depth.

ARZ Deal- Pretty much a cap dump for ARZ. Wasn't too sure about value (maybe a 2nd?), but Ottawa gets a good veteran forward and a goalie who can help Hogberg if Nilsson is out long term.

Ottawa fans, what's the plan with Logan Brown? Don't see how you can have him, Norris and Stutzle all in the lineup. I want to give him another fair shot to start the season(15min+ a night) and see if we can find room for a guy like him. If not, Norris, Pinto and whoever else they draft will easily overpass him and he'll need to be dealt.

i dont mind larsson but adding him as a legit piece of that trade for only 1 year seems silly. I'd rather not extend him anyways. For that package. As much as Id like pick 14, we can probably get a decent actual roster player for that package. If we trade up i heard the oilers are open to do it for picks

so I wouldnt count on Stepan & Raanta

as for EDM, they need RHD as well, so I dont think that they'll move Larsson

True, I'm just thinking that you want to add a quality defender this season that gives flexibility in your long term plans because it's just a 1 year deal. Niskanen or Demers are other RHD I would target with 1 year left.
