So how does that help the jets? An over paid bottom 6 forward (they have tons of forwards) and a old dmen that's regressing bad? That's really bad.

If Coburn is "regressing bad", why would Tampa Bay's Coach allot him more Penalty Killing Minites than other Lightning Skater Last Season...?

Once again, last year, Helm's penalty-differential was outstanding; only 6 NHLers drew more penalties than Helm... this article helps quantify the impact:

    http://www.tsn.ca/drawing-penalties-a-valuable-nhl-skill-1.192784

Since only one team (Arizona) allowed more power play goals last year than Winnipeg, they could do worse than adding a Defenseman who paced his entire team's short-handed minutes to neutralize opponents' power plays and a forward who has season after season (including last season) distinguished himself from the rest of the NHL with respect to drawing penalties...

... in short, Coburn improves the penalty-kill, and Helm creates power plays... Winnipeg's Achilles Heel - PPGA - is thus substantially-less...

... and they would begin the offseason with an extra opportunity to draft a home run...

...by only shedding two defectors and addressing needs...

Again with the younger line up in Winnipeg and going to a less physical style Winnipeg will take less penalties. Jets addressed pking with Matthias signing and taking Stuart off the pk (worst pk player in the league.) So added a whole bunch of salary for bottom end older players is beyond stupid in the NHL. These trades are beyond bad. Game is mostly played at 5vs5 that's where you want your players to be good. Plus jets had the worst 4vs5 sv% in the NHL. So biggest need on pk is goaltending. Pav not being the starter will help that.

Also special teams is hugely impacted on coaching. Which the jets staff was poor at last year.

Good luck! You're gonna need it...

Hellebucyk had the poorest of Winnipeg's Shorthanded Save %s by the way...

Yea and using a sv% that's not 5vs5 is stupid again special teams is largely coaching effected. Especially pk
