Av Fans are not overly excited about the signing but he did what he had to do in pre-season to gain a contract. He put up points, got in a fight, was physical...but we all know that won't last one the season starts.
Its a 600k contract so its the min, Avs needed more RWers to roll into the 4th line.

Give him a shot at least

G. Bourque was on Waivers, it seems like Vogelhuber or Martinsen will be the 14th forward

I saw that but from reading in the DP and Bednar's comments, it sounded like the waivers was a formality and that they wanted him to stick around. Otherwise swap him with probably Vogelhuber as an extra forward.

hmm just read that DP article too, not sure why they are putting him through waivers? Dont see the point of that, unless they want to have roster flexibility in case they get a waiver claim that they want? Its interseting

He's on a two-way contract. Those players have to pass through waivers before officially joining the team. Rene is on a one-way deal and no waivers are required.

This is incorrect.
One-way/two-way have no bearing on waivers, it is based on experience (years since signing and games played): https://www.capfriendly.com/waivers_faq

Waivers are required for waivers-eligible players before they can be assigned to the AHL
