Trading up for Askarov

Created by: TCS2020
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 2, 2020
Published: Oct. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With rumors that Crow might walk we need a future goalie so drafting up for Askarov could be our best choice. Added in two possible cheap FA signings in Lundqvist and Ryan which probably aren't likely but could be possible. Buffalo might need to sed something back but it is mainly Askarov that is the biggest part of making that deal.

What would need to be added to get the deal done in your mind?

To be quite honest, nothing you're gonna want to give up. We're really banking on that pick.

Actually, and according to the The Athletic today and regarded as the most reliable resource or top two, Saad plus the 17th OA for the 8th in return is very close and something Buffalo would be interested in.

Really doesn't make a ton of sense as Saad only has 1 year on his contract. Especially based on the severe drop from the Top 10 to the rest.

Saad will demand a first at the TDL to playoff team so not inconceivable IMO. Saad was on pace for 30 goals, is in the prime of his career, is over .50ppg career playoff guy, and as most know excellent on defense and a key part of the PK and PP. Probably would include retention and maybe adding another pick later in the draft like the Chicago 3rd, but honestly i think fans overrate draft picks especially on here. The #8th is probably a reach (could see the 10th moving up 7 spots) and depends who's off the board at the point for Buffalo. If Rossi and Perfetti are gone is might be something that happens on draft day when Buffalo goes to pick.

Saad is a good player but he’s another left-handed winger, and Buffalo has more left-handed shots and than they can use already. What they need is a right handed shot for the top six, unless they use Cozens there. Chicago just doesn’t have that player, and Buffalo doesn’t want Nylander back.

That'd be a fireable offense. Holtz, Raymond, Rossi, Lundell for one year of Saad? Whoever wrote that needs to shake their hand a few times. Maybe even go get a CT scan.
