Really bad for ANA. You don't trade a #1/2 D to create cap flexibility when the guy is so young lol. The return is very underwhelming and is pure quantity.

Don't know why a rebuilding team like the Leafs need to take on Lindholm (and his contract) and unneeded Stoner (and his salary) for four or five assets.

Come on palhal. You can't honestly be made at this. Lindholm is approach star status - if he hasn't already reached it. You take them when you have the chance. $6M for him is well worth it. Leafs give up very little (in comparison) for a LOT. Bad GM's turn this down.

Because Lindholm is a 22 year old player not even close to his prime yet is still a borderline #1 already? Seriously????? I'll chalk it up that you're confusing Lindholm with someone else, because that deal is a no brainer for Toronto.

Hello leafs1967 and BreKel. Thank you for your comments and they might be closer to reality than what I wrote. But, I think we are approaching untold silliness when guys come of their RFAs and we think they all are deserving huge salaries. I know stats aren't everything but Linholm and Trouba are 30 point Dmen. Other RFA silliness Jones of Columbus, maybe McKinnon of the Avs. Gee, Kucherov signed for "just" 4.6m. Maybe Kucherov should be the norm.
I admit I don't watch Lindholm that much, but he is worth 7% of your cap? Zaitsev might be as good as any Leaf Dman, does he get 6m next year? I know it's long way away (3 years) but if Marner and Matthews, Nylander (2 years) want and deserve big raises, the Leafs will be in the same position as the Ducks.

Not saying the Ducks would do it but when did a recent 1st rounder who is developing nicely and JVR become non quality pieces?

This proposal might favour the leafs slightly but it is a decent proposal. Players that are "difficult" to deal with, whether it be contractually or off-ice, often get traded for less value. Anaheim is getting JVR, Kapanen (a former first round pick), 2 second rounders, dumps over 2 million in stoners salary this year (full salary next year) and all they give up is a non-roster player.

That "non-roster" player is deserving of what he is asking for based on some recent deals and is a star.

The issue is that 1st rounder isn't developing "nicely". He is a very raw player still. There is some concern with that. TML should hold onto him unless they find a deal like this somehow.

Yes, it hard to know how Kapanen good is going to be as an NHLer. But a junior aged playing in the AHL last year, I think he developed "nicely". Important season for him this year as he projecting to get big minutes on the RW.

I just read that he is asking for EKBLAD money (8 years at 7.5M), while Anaheim is only offering SETH JONES money (6 years at 5.4M). Just curious, does anyone think he is worth EKBLAD money?

Right now, Ekblad isn't worth Ekblad money. Neither is Lindblad

I'm sorry but you're dumb if your not taking Ekblad at 7.5 for 8 yrs. I'm just gonna guess that you would take him for 5-6m which would be 4-6yrs. In 4-6yrs, that's when he is in prime/or about to be in his prime and then his next contract would be off the charts ridiculous at like 10-11m. If you take him for his actual contract that he has, then that would take him to 28, and then his next contract could be the 6m for 6yrs (or around there).

Oh and I don't know who Lindblad is but Lindholm should get a contract of around 5.8-6.2m.
