Hate that Tony D contract and you can grind Lemieux down to 2 years 1.25 I think. But yes the Rangers are not in Cap hell. Letting Strome walk would still be insane and they should just flip him for a 2nd tomorrow night and move on.

me neither but them not giving him a QO and using this bonus thing as an excuse vs just freaking trading him today is wild to me.

When does the first buyout window close? I really like the "NYR picks up Wennberg after buyout" idea so I want to know how long I can believe it's actually possible

If you can't find a trade partner it's more than just a hockey decision. They hand their hands tied. Strome feels entitled to way more money than he deserves due to Panarin upping his game.

Expect him to be bought out by tomorrow. They are trying to trade him but I don't think they will be able too. This contract and fit is enticing for him as well.

Stommer put up solid numbers (even when not aligned with panarin ). Is he the answer at 2C? ehhh- He'd make a nice 3C pivot on the right contract numbers centering a kratsov /kreider or such. But his cap number makes things a bit ugly. So we move him tonite, or we sign him and move him in future... as for Tony D @ 5.5: more of the same...its alot for a 3 RD but w/power play time and his feistiness i actually love payin tony in the 4.5-5.5 range and limit his gaffs with a SOLID stay at home 3 LD- (kandre aint gonna work on a line with tony d- part of the long term problem-), and again u can always move him for some nice assets at deadline time when the rest of the d kids step up and begin ranger domination.

Thats a bonkers take to justify terrible asset management. They are concerned about his award for a 1 year deal falling in some crazy narrow range that would not let them walk away and also not be able to trade him because it will be an arbitration award deal that means they have to keep him for a year. So just offer him 4.75m on a 1 year deal, which is slightly higher than he expects to get in Arb, and then you can trade him at the TDL for assets with 50% retention. Or just trade him now. People are out there trading for absolute bums, 1st round picks for Kapanen, Tampa asking for a first for tyler freaking johnson with a lead balloon of a deal and your telling me Gorton cant flip a 60 point center for 2 3rd round picks or something at worst... no chance. Something weird is happening here.
