Arizona won't retain if OEL is moved and why do people think that Juolevi has any significant value? I understand that money needs to go back in a deal but Arizona has way more pieces that they can move out to pay the bills.

Kuempfer for one. Kessel for another. Stepan, Hjalmarsson, Goligoski and Demers are others. Lots of salary for them to move out if they want to, they don't HAVE to move out OEL.

And this trade does not help them save money at all. They are retaining for the next 8 years (which nobody is going to do) and taking one a lot of your dead money. That's not what they are looking for. I get you're a Canucks fan, but let's be objective here.

I also think you've made it extremely difficult to re-sign Hughes and Petterson next year, which should be top priority for Vancouver rather than overpaying more UFA's this year.

Demers (3.9), Goligoski (5.475), Stepan (6.5), Hjalmersson (5), Rannta (4.25), Kuemper (4.5), Kessell for peanuts. All those guys are over 30 and walking in 1 to two years, why trade the only guy who has signed long term in the desert? Of all GM's Benning is not going to bend a team over a barrel for their captain.

Every offer that a Bruins fan has put together on here has been better than the heap of dog shirt that Vancouver fans are suggesting.

Buddy Louie Eriksson is not "dead money" 6M cap hit next two year but is really only owed 4 million combined in real dollars. GMs look at that stuff man.

This was a decent arm chair GM thing. The only criticisms I have is that I think Tanev might not sign with the canucks due to how (based off of rumors) his agent and him were left to dry with little to no communication with the canucks. Cam Talbot is a great pick up to back Demko or even start an even number of games, and Virtanen was most likely handed a qualifying offer solely to be traded. On virtanen, most of his goals came through better players on the team and it was predicted that he would fall off by the seasons end, which he did.

Okay "buddy". 4 million is still 4 million they likely do not want to spend. Just because you need to balance your cap doesn't mean Arizona has to help you with that. I am well aware they look at those types of things (which is why players like James Reimer may be popular this offseason). Vancouver is not going to take your cap dump, the player who you don't want that every Vancouver ACGM seems to trade (Virtanen), an AHL player and a SECOND round pick? Arizona wants picks. Add a first and a third, take out your trash and they'd definitely agree, without retention.

Arizona wants/needs to move 56 million dollars off the books. OEL is of little use to that team now. Coach see eye to eye with the coach, they are shedding salary and rebuilding. Getting a good young dman, fwd and pick isn't a bad offer.

But doesn't save them any money! With Eriksson, Virtanen's arb award or QO and the 2 million retention Arizona is paying MORE to move OEL for that "package of things." Why would they be motivated to do that at all? If they want to cut 56 million I probably wouldn't start with trading my best player for a package that costs more.

Eriksson is owed 1 million in real dollars this yr. Virtanen is set to make 3 or so and Juolevi is an ELC.

The real savings though is getting 8 mil 7 off your books because you don't see your window being while OEL is still full value for that contract.
