Description

This is with what we currently have prior to Free Agency Friday. I have Riikola and Aston-Reese as Scratches and based on their cap hits I think they are valuable as trading pieces for teams that need to get under the cap and still fill in spaces on their NHL rosters. Note...we have $3,216.667 tied up this upcoming season in Dead Cap due to the contracts of Bjugstad & Johnson. Trading away Bjugstad's contract would be great. Additional Notes...What I like about these lines is that we have a gritty player who can skate on all three top lines (Kapanen, Rust, Tanev). What I like about the 4th line and it being Centered by McCann is that Sceviour is strong defensively and is a true net front presence and that's what a shooter like McCann needs. In addition, I have Drew O'Connor on this line to replace ZAR because Drew is a better skater, has more scoring finish and I think is an overall better skilled player. ZAR, Riikola and even POJ are perfect players to have as our 7th Defensemen or 13th Forward.

Yes McCann can play 3rd line center but so can Teddy Blueger as he's certainly proved it but just hasn't been given the full chance. And yes you can trade away the Bjustad deal.

I have never heard of trading retention. Gotta think the Leafs would have done it for the Kessel retention.

He is but so could Teddy Blueger. A long they both get a good amount of ice time.
