4 years isn’t an option for Debrusk. Takes him directly to UFA without buying out any UFA years, and that doesn’t happen in the NHL. Don’t think Jersey takes that, but I would love it if they did. Gotta find more money for Grzelcyk, and gotta find room in the lineup for Studnicka. Lindholm can’t play the third line.

Thank you for pointing that out, it should have been 3 years to bridge him over. I can’t imagine that New Jersey wouldn’t, Palmieri has 1 year left on his current deal and I don’t see the Bruins giving up a 1st for him in addition to prospects. New Jersey would be getting Bjork as a young winger, Steen as young winger, Zboril who hasn’t been able to find his groove in Providence, and a 2nd rounder, that’s a good amount for an expiring deal. If they could resign him they would have Tuukka’s and Krejci’s deals expired and could have their second RW for the future. As well as money to sign a starting goalie if Rask retires or could trade for a starting goalie and have the cap room. The Bruins have plenty of bottom six forwards in Providence and they could easily switch out whomever they feel can play it. Grzlecyk is right in the range that Carlo signed for so I believe that’s fair.

Not really comparable scenarios between Carlo and grzelcyk. Third contract vs second. This contract will very likely take grzelcyk to UFA.

There’s nothing exciting in the Palmieri deal. Lots of stuff, sure. When the devils move him they’re going to want to be excited about at least one piece.

Then they may have to trade him, I can’t imagine them paying too much for Grzelcyk long term, he’s undersized, and not a power play quarterback like Krug. New Jersey won’t be able to be too picky ; Trade him for something; young prospects and a 2nd or lose him to FA. I can’t see another team giving up a 1st for an expiring contract, he’s a very good player, but he’s not a franchise player worth a 1st +prospects

No. That’s a really bad idea. Just give him a little more money and an extra year! Problem solved.

Anything could happen, but unless he really improves, I don’t see them signing him to big money long term, maybe a bridge deal in the $2.8 million range but There are other options that are bigger stronger and more skilled around the league. Time will tell though.

Who said anything about big money?

3x3.5 that’s good. Would be A+ value for boston.
