Just have to get rid of a big contract

Created by: Foppa213
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 9, 2020
Published: Oct. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Smith and Duclair can bring some goals (both +20 scorers with potential of +25)
Turris for 1,5 as 3C is solid in my opinion (there are other options as 3C as well such as Wennberg, Wallmark). And in 2 years Sasha will be 100% ready.

It seems like if you bring on Bogosian that equals Cup win. So lets bring him on!
And Stecher is a great 3 pairing D.

Some interesting yougsters knocking to get into the lineup... only thing is to solve one of the big contracts.. how likely is that? Maybe not very likely that Burns moves to Philly but it would for sure open up things.

And what makes you think Philly can or would want to absorb that contract?

They will clear some cap getting rid of Ghost and some other casualties.
Then they will most likely try to go after Laine and Pietrangelo and will fail.
So then they will need to do something (and they surely need to do something more) and will add Burns.

After Burns was part of the welcoming crew to the new draftees on the Zoom calls, going to say that there's slim to none chance that he goes anywhere.

Flyers aren't taking on $8 million a year for a 35 year old Burns for the next 5 years. They need to re-sign Myers (say around $3 million) leaving them with around $5.5 million. Assuming you can find a partner to trade Ghost and not take any salary back (pretty big assumption with the flat cap) that frees up $4.5 million giving them $10 million this year. Adding Burns puts them at $2 million to add a forward which they might be able to do. The problem though is next year when Sanheim, Hart, and less importantly Laughton need new contracts. They are not in a position to take on a contract that big for that long without San Jose eating part of the contract or salary going the other way.
